hi everyone i need to help with an argument i am having with my dad. he is saying that he has to buy the bridemaids gift. i thought it was the bride that does this? does anyone out there know who buys the bridesmaids gifts? and if they know what else the father does/or buys? as he has bought my beautiful dress, and is doing the flowers. thanks

hi stormie. I always thought that the bridesmaids gifts are a gift from you, the bride. I'm buying mine anyway! I think the brides parents traditionally pay for everything relating to the ceremony, flowers, cake, dress, etc and then grooms parents pay for things for the reception. Although I don't think this is expected anymore. Hope that helps! xx

Maybe he is getting confused with thanking the BMs in his speech, though not even sure if that is the h2bs job. But you and h2b buy the gifts as far as I am aware. It is lovely that he wants to contribute more to the wedding though, he must love you lots! :) x

awww thanks girls, i think my dad wants to pay for it all but i know he dont have that kinda money, plus i want a cheap wedding as we are trying to save up for a house too. cant believe how great my family are being with the wedding, they are offering to help with everything. my aunt is making the cake, my bro works at a car rental place so will borrow a nice car for the weekend. my aunts, bro, sister and dad are doing the flowers and decarating the venue for me. my H2B has only got his mum and dad and they havent even offered to help us and i kept inviting his mum to come to wedding fairs and bridal shops but she didnt want to go ( as i dont have anything to do with my mum for 10 yrs now). and his dad we asked him to come and look at venues, but he refused. we live with his parents at the moment while we are saving up for the house, and everytime we talk about the wedding they dont want to know. it has upset me and ian as he is an only child and we would of thought that they would love to be involved. and also his parents havent met my family, and my dad and gran keep asking to meet them but his parents keep saying they will but when i arrange to meet up they refuse, they are driving me mad!
