    Hi guys!

Is anyone else doing a father daughter dance? I really want to do one but i can't think of a song; i want something really nice but both my father and I are really in to rock music (Queen, Meatloaf, Saxon, Linkin Park etc etc) so all the "typical" songs just are not appropriate for us.

Does anyone on here have any suggestions?

    CJ xx

i can't think of a song that would be appropriate for a wedding dance, could easily just put on 'bat out of hell' but can't exactly dance nicely to that??

Have you thought about Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne "Changes" ??? It is a bit of a sad song
When You Need Me - Bruce Springsteen
    Thank You – Led Zeppelin
To Make You Feel My Love - Bob Dylan (there is also a Billy Joel cover for this)
You're My Best Friend - Queen
    Wildflowers - Tom Petty
Sweet Child o' Mine – Sheryl Crow (it's a cover but sounds good, you could have the original Guns n Roses version)
Just some I have found on a quick search.

Oooh Victoria, "Changes" is a good one. Isn't there a Queen song that could be appropriate? We were thinking same for our first dance....we're both massive Linkin Park fans but there's nothing that you can really dance to!!! What about Dire Straits? Oooh I need more time to think about this.....

Not having a father daughter dance but if I was going to I'd probably go with Stevie Nicks - Landslide. Its such a nice song and she wrote it whilst her father was about to go in for surgery and she was scared of losing him, but it can be applied to so many situations where there is a big change in our lives. Sample lyrics: Well, I've been afraid of changing, 'Cause I've built my life around you, But time makes you bolder, Even children get older, And I'm getting older too.
My second choice would probably be Neil Young - Old Man. Sample lyrics: Old man take a look at my life, I'm a lot like you, I need someone to love me the whole day through.
A more up to date rock choice would be Shinedown - Miracle. Sample lyrics: I just want you to see, What I’ve always believed, You are…The miracle in me.

Ditto showgirl. I'm not having a father/daughter dance as neither of my parents are in my life. I forgot about that song though is a good one :)

We had Never let me go by florence and the machine as David and my first dance, which we danced for 30 seconds alone before our groomsmen and bridesmaids joined in. At 1 min 30 the band then asked everyone to join in, at which point Dave danced with my mother and I danced with my father. It all had a lovely flow about it and we got some great pictures! That wont work for everyone, but it worked for us!!

Similar situation, I'm having a daddy daughter dance and we like rock too,
We are thinking of "Rhiannon" by fleetwood mac. Or "long gone" by the black keys...

"Changes" is nice. And I quite like "mermaids" by Paul weller.

If you like Saxon, "do it all for you" is quite sweet

What about linkin parks "leave out all the rest"?
Lyrics are quite sad but it's slow enough?

Don't worry, pick your song, my dad and I had a totally untraditional song, Johnny Cash, Ring of Fire. It was the song I embarrassed him in public with when I was a toddler. A story he tells a number of times and actually made it into his speech lol, he wrote his speech before I told him ( on the morning of the wedding) that was the song we'd be dancing to.

Me and Dad danced to 'I was Born to love you' by Queen - he used to sing it to me when i was little and it has always been our song, so I asked the DJ without telling him and we had it straight after the first dance. Dad loved it, he was so happy, and we had loads of people crying who were watching! It didnt matter that its a rocky song, thats what we are like - if it was anything else it would have been weird!! xxx

    I've chosen my song!

    Far Away by Nickelback <3

it's perfect, not only do we both love the band but the lyrics are a little apt as my parents live in Abu Dhabi and my Father was away a lot with the Army when I was a child. Goosebumps!
