I'm a bit confused about this as I didn't really think about having to do a father and bride dance! I've still to choose a song. I just want to know a couple of things. What kind of songs has everyone else picked and also when is the right time to do the dance during the course of the evening?
CommentAuthormadhen
Will be interested to see what answers you get to this as I haven't a clue either! Hadn't even heard of it till this summer, h2b's sister had a father-daughter dance at her wedding. Her song was something about "I loved her first" or something?? I dunno, will try remember....and she had the dance near the start of the night, maybe three or four songs in.

I'm sure I'll be having a dance with my dad but not organising it formally, I know he'd be too nervous if he knew it was a scheduled thing so we're just gonna go with the flow.
CommentAuthorLaura JaneW
I was thinking about having something funny and upbeat, a song that reminds me of being young but my dad is actually disabled and wouldn't be able to dance fast.
I agree with TeganandRob - my Dad would gladly get up for a bit of a dance if s good song came on, but both he and I would be terrified if it was a big formal deal! Am scared enough about having to have a first dance....tempted not to.

Oh, i deffo need to think about this!! My dad is a very complicated person to understand - he will act like he doesnt want to do it, but if I didnt arrange it then he would be upset! And, I hadn't even remembered about something like this! I would either have "You raise me up" by Westlife as it makes me think of him, or something really un-soppy like "Paradise by the dashboard lights" By Meatloaf as we used to sing it together when I was little, I would do the girl bit and him the Meatloaf bit. I don't know if anyone at the wedding would understand though! haha
It will be the one and only time me and my dad will have danced together, so think soppy will be better - get all I can out of it when I can haha!!
CommentAuthormadhen
Ha! I'm going to be soppy enough having to walk up the aisle and have him give me away - better make the dance a funny one methinks...! ;)

hehehe we have picked Isn't she lovely by Stevie Wonder and i'm going to laugh all the way through! But it can also be linked to being released in the year of Anthony's birth!
I can't stop listening to it and also think how I might end up wetting myself hahaha it's just so ME! bigging myself up! in a non-arogant way :) PERFECT! lol

I was thinking reet petite by jackie Wilson as this was my favourite song when I was a toddler, and it reminds me of growing up. :) I don't kno if he would keep up tho!

father-daughter dance goes directly after the first dance!
Is anyone having a last dance? I want one and I want Rule the World by Take That xx
CommentAuthorFitchMcCombe
I'm going to suggest to him that we do Fleetwood Mac's Landslide, because I love the song and I think its quite fitting :) he can be soppy sometimes but he may well turn around and say we'd be better doing Chemical Brothers Hey Boy Hey Girl lol!
CommentAuthorLaura JaneW
Aw a last dance! Didn't think of that but it sounds good!
CommentAuthorLinzi-jo
I am having my mum and dad's song 'when you wish upon a star' as the last dance! xx

father daughter dance usually goes after the first dance and is sometimes combined with a mother son dance if you want to share the spotlight/focus
CommentAuthorCrawf
Samantha, that is a nice idea I hadn't thought of! MIL2B would be thrilled if she got to do that with her little boy. Suppose it would have to be a song that we both love then, and reminds us both of our parents. I'm not a fan on compromise hahaha
CommentAuthorLaura JaneW
Unfortunately my OH isn't inviting his mother so this won't happen at our wedding!
CommentAuthorsusan1990
i would like to do one with my dad but i cant dance! lol if i did i would go for 'because you loved me' by celine dion...he has always been a massive celine dion fan and that song is just really nice and reminds me of my dad x

I'm having my dance with my dad first and then he is going to pass me t my h2b strai afterwards. The song I have chosen is one my mum adores but when I listen to it makes my eyes fill with tears the words are so completely true to what me and my dad are and our relationship from the very first moment he saw me as a baby. It's heartland I loved her first have a listen xx

Millz, I'm pretty sure that father daughter dances are an American thing. I've never not seen one at an American wedding, and I've never seen one in a wedding in the UK. Same goes for bouquet and garter tosses.

My older brother is giving me away as my dad is not a part of my life and wouldn't be worthy of the job anyway, so instead of a father/daughter dance i am having a brother/sister dance. We are dancing to Carrie Underwood - Whenever you remember. It's perfect as we are so close and have so many memories we remember together.
