Weve only Actually booked our venue as an evening reception and was going to have an afternoon cival ceremony in the same venue also... But My Grandad recently passed away and being amonst organising hes funeral i am actually relising what my family think of me marrying my partner? My mum hates my h2b, my h2b's dad hates me! My dad hates h2b and doesn't speak to me or hes grand kids anymore because were are together and have been for nearly 6yrs now! But were seriouly thinking of just getting married abroad and still sharing the evening venue we have booked and paid for! Thing is we don't know where to start?
Either Greece,cyprus,Turkey?
Any help would be great thanks?

Most of my family are saying they might not come, my h2b family don't like me and say they wont come to wedding even though I have only met them 2 times in 6 years of been with my h2b...
The prices of receptions here are scandle. I have thought of Abroad or gretna Green... But not sure how much this will cost! X

what reasons do these people have for the hate towards u and h2b? it not like he takes drugs, beats u or has cheated on u? and vice versa. they should respect u both as adults to allow u to make ur own decisions about who u wish to spend ur life with! xx

Im having the same prob. Me and h2b was gonna get married abroad but decided to stay here because some of my family wouldnt have been able to go otherwise now that we are staying here my dad said he might only come to the evening reception with my sister and my mum is only coming to the ceremony and the photos then going home. We wish now that we had just gone away and had a party when we got home.
Just remember this is your day and do whatever you want and sod the rest of them xxx

definatly cyprus i would say,i was going to do same as weve had family feuds over our wedding but decided now just to have it here,speak to travel agents they will give you prices and what not,hope u get it sorted xx

I just don't want anyone spoiling my day and we have got 5 kids to organise also on my day and i know my mum is going to be a nightmare by not helping me and proberly get **** up and most of family will do and thou they wont say it to our faces they will be slagging my h2b off behind our backs...
Over the past year me and h2b have supporting my family whilst my grandad was in icu fighting for hes life,my brother being carted off to the nut house with mental illness due to my grandad being in ICU and just one day i flipped at my h2b ..OVER A BUNCH OF BANANNAS LOL... I know stupid but he was trying to tell my not to buy any? For my Brother in the nuthouse at the time!
We had a massive row me chuckin him out and him going back to hes dad's (thats why he don't like me)! My h2b telling my mum to shu-up! My dad Didn't like my h2b from the start saying he wasn't good enough for me!!
But thru all the ups and downs were still together and want to get married!! So just to save the agrou and the stress we want to do it ourselves somewhere and with our kids so they can get a holiday out of it also as this years holiday isn't happening as we have been wedding planning!
I know how to organise a turkey wedding quite easy but anywhere else im clueless? Any help please? How happy familys hay!!

I don't know about organising but my friend got married in Cyprus in September and had a party when she got back. I think they spent the best part of £10k including the party but the photos of the day look amazing! I can ask her where to start if you fancy doing it there?

That would be great if you could ask? I might do a turkey wedding otherwise as we know the area and people ect as we attended a wedding 2yrs ago there! Went back the year later for a week and we both love it and its so cheap!!

Familys suck sometimes!! Again I'm in a similar situation, h2b and had a very tough time last year, he had an addiction for over 24 years, that finally came to a head last Nov. We split for about a month but have sorted things out and are even better than before now. Sadly tho, my family didn't know about h2b's adddiction and even tho he's now completely clean and hasn't touched anything for 6 months now they refuse to accept him anymore. It saddens me because he's a wonderful man, and we're a very happy family unit. But my mum and 2 sisters just won't give him a break now
I'm not even allowed to talk about getting married because the subject gets changed so who knows what will happen as it gets nearer? :-(
Go with your heart hun, go abroad if you want to, just don't try and please people that can't be pleased. I wish you all the luck in the world whatever you decide.

Oh lulliebiscuit life throws so many curve balls at you doesn't it! Was abit unsure putting my info on here but our year has been crapp.. My Grandad passed away just over a week now from lung cancer but you would think familys would stick together!
My mum only wants the best for me lol but just interferes and takes over! My h2b hasn't done anything wrong really it was me that ended our relationship because everything just got to much at the time!
I wish you good luck to hun! I could have the wedding of the year but until i change my man lol they will just say something,do something to make it spoil my day! Just been getting in contact with a wedding planner in turkey! :0)
Im not even gonna tell my family either just give out the save the date cards for our day and do our thing!! My mum lets me talk about weddings but then breifly always adds (its all about you anyway) Nobody looks at the groom!! Sarky comment are in full alot of the time lol!
