I've posted a photo of a beautiful Fairytale Carriage Card/Post Box in my photo albums and just wondered what you all thought about it?! It's not cheap to buy (but could then be sold on later - Alan Sugar would be proud) but would tie in really well with our Disney/Fairytale theme.
I'm just wondering what you think of it on a practical level?! It says "It is decorated with beads to add a bit of sparkle and measures 15″ x 16.5″. On the one side there is a slot (5″ x 1.25″) for inserting the cards and a door on the opposite side for removing the cards at the end of the reception. There is also a removable beaded heart chain that can be used to lock the door while in use." All i'd do is add a little sign to it similar to what you'd have on a regular post box with our names and thanks etc..
Do you think it'll be big enough for the cards we may receive and would you think it'd match the theme nicely or be tacky?!

Hey nicola. I am having the same theme and was thinking of buying this, I've seen it on bay of e for about £80. If I was to buy it as my wedding is before yours maybe I could sell it to you if you want. Where did you see it?

It sounds lovely but if you can't sell it after it's quite expensive .... I ended up shredding my post box after the wedding, as you end up with so much stuff you really don't know what to do with it all afterwards! Is there no way you could have a go at making one? or finding an arty friend that could make you a themed box at a much cheaper cost? x

I've seen it on a few sites it generally works out around £70-£80 inc P&P. Found one where it's only £67.99 but the P&P is £6.95! There's a few on Bay of E. Think cheapest i've found it is on there...£66 with £6.50 P&P.

Future Mrs Doublé - what's your thoughts on how many cards it'll hold?! That's my only concern and Cupcakes just said she doesn't think it'll hold many? Althought it is a good size?
I could probably make my own i just like this as it looks extra special :0)

Nicola ... I think it's because it's round and cards are mainly square, in the picture you have on your wall there is only about 3-4 cards in it and it looks half full .... I can see why you love though x

We did with OH a rough volume check of the carriage and divided it by volume of a card measuring 8" by 5.5" and for this type of card it would be 84 if its smaller cards, it'd be more. I have found on the bay one at £65 that I could pick up as it's in Bradford, and emailed to check if I could hire it. If I can't hire it I'll buy it and sell it after wedding

I think it is beautiful! And would tie in with your theme very well! It just depends how many guests you think you may have. Could you not ask the Best man or Maid of honour or even a parent to keep an eye on it and then if it is getting full maybe they could take a few out and put them somewhere safe so that more could fit in? xxx
