I've just confirmed with a local hotel to view it as a potential venue - and in return for the consideration and taking a look round they're giving us a free night's accommodation including breakfast this weekend, just so that we can get the "full experience" of the place - so happy :) They have a fabulous looking package as well, so fingers crossed that this one is more likely to work out!

It's the Park Inn in Doncaster - quite new and it would seem part of a large chain. Extra bonus that we need to consider is that it would cost our guests just £45 per room per night including breakfast to stay there, which is cheaper than the last place we looked at. The events co-ordinator seemed really nice on the phone too - looking forward to taking a look round at the weekend :)

It does feel a bit silly in a way though - we're staying there Friday night because I'm at a wedding fayre Sunday morning, so will be going from Steve getting home from work - and it's only a five minute drive from our house! But we intend on just enjoying it anyway - we're not sure what they will want of us on Friday evening, but I do know that's when the coordinator will be showing us round, but we'll still need to eat too, so not sure yet whether we will eat in the hotel restaurant... or nip over the road for some KFC :P

Well despite the upset of granddad this weekend, some good did come out of this weekend - we've decided that we like this venue enough to want to book it. They're doing us a great deal, over £1k less than we had seen at other venues, and the coordinator was so lovely and very accommodating - literally could not try harder to please us. We found the whole place had a really friendly, comfortable feel, and although the outside of the hotel looks very drab and boring, we were told that they would arrange free transport for us to the nearby lakeside for our photos if we wanted it. Very pleased with the whole experience - now just need to see the vicar and try and get our date sorted.
