The parents of my ex, ex's borther and wife and 2 boys are coming to our wedding which I am very pleased abut but H2B's family are a lil freaked at.
I have invited them as they have been so good to myself an 2 girls since I split witn their son, well before as well of course
Only one of my daughters is there son's biological daughter but they have never treted the girls any different.
In fact when their grand daughter was born the come up for the weekend and took my oldest daughter oout to the zoo to make sure she did not feel pushed out. The never miss any birthdays, christmas, etc somethign there son can not manage.

I have invited his brother as i am still good friends with his wife.

My H2B's family is very small and do not see why they are invited.
I come from a big family which has been increased by our foster brothers and friends of us all who have just been added to the fold. My parents bought us up to know our friends were always welcome in the family home and so lot of our childhood friend are seen as much as the part of the family which has meant my parents have lots of hononary children and grandchildren etc.
I feel blessed to be able to mantian a reltaionship with my ex's family despite not having one with their son and I could not imagine them not sharing in our special day.

Is my thinking about family so different? i feel i am lucky to have been bought up surronded by so much love.

No it's not, when my mom married my stepdad all of my dad's family were at the wedding as my mom had known them since she was 14 and they were like family to her, she also gave my nan a bunch of flowers when my stepad gave his mom one as her mom died when i was young and my mom see's her as a surrogate mom so to me it doesn't seem unusual at all

if you feel it is right and you want the to share your day (i assume h2b is happy for them to be there) then i dont see anything wrong with it at all the point is to share you day with people that matter to you and if that include ur exs family then what does it matter it no different to ur best friend being there in my opinion x

hi - i am also having ex's family at mine, My ex-father in law (dad) is even giving me away. did consider having ex there too but not too sure on that part. i have always classed them as family, even though split from ex 21yrs ago and we visit them each week. it would seem rude not to include them as like you Kim, they helped so much with my 3 children. Had it not been for them i wouldnt have been able to cope and no you are not different in having them there.
