I've not looked much into flowers but looked the website of the one recommended by the venue and found some flowers that are kind of like what I wanted - I want to have a pastel, relaxed kinda theme that really isn't much of a theme and more informal. The venue has a lovely walled garden so wanted to link in with that.

Their are charging £30 for the flowers below (depending on the size of the vase it says - so could be more could be less I guess). It's just when you multiple 30 by 8 tables £240 is seems like quite a lot of money before you've even factored in top table, bouquets etc? Do you think this is the right kinda price?

I'd considered doing the flowers myself but i'm not sure how you go about it? Can you buy flowers in bulk? I'm in Shropshire if anyone knows anywhere.

The long and low for our top table was about £30. We only had that on our top table, the other 5 tables had a centrepuece we made ourselves.

my table flowers are costing £28 and £35 im having 3 different table displays on the tables to keep the cost down i was quoted for the same flowers £40-£50 for the exact same thing and size I would shop around for quotes, You can buy flowers in bulk on wholesale flower sites and flower markets but might cost you the same once you add in vases etc

I'm spending about that much on the centre pieces for my tables, I no it's a lot but its what I really wanted and I'm having birdcages, was thinking I can always sell them after and give them as gifts after the wedding. Maybe you could give them as gifts afterwards? Depends if you want them that much or can find something cheaper? X x

I agree Emma- Louise, it is a worry! As far as I can see it's going to cost far more than I had thought it would! I think perhaps i've been a bit naive in what I thought flowers and flower arranging costs. I would really like to do it myself but my H2b - and he is probably right - says I get my self in such a pickle over things if they aren't just perfect he doesn't want us doing too many things ourselves as he doesn't want it to be stressful.

We're quite different really in that he would just throw money at it to make it easy where as i'm a bit more tight with my budgeting and the thought of spending huge amounts scares me! We want to move house the year after and i'd rather save the money for that! Not sure what we're going to do!!! x

Real flowers are VERY expensive, so that sounds about right to me. For all flowers you want for the day you are normally looking between £400 and £500. I can't justify this so am going for fake ones which cost about half what real ones do xxx

Yeah, that's what i feared Linzi-jo. I think perhaps it's time to do some serious investigating into doing them myself. I'm meeting the venue co-ordinator in just over a week so i'll see what she thinks - perhaps they can help with setting up on the day. x

Personally if you are set on having real flowers, I would advise against doing them yourself, purely because they will have to be done and sorted so close to the day so they don't wilt etc, it seems like it would add an awful lot of stress.

Thirty quid is the cheapest I've seen, although I haven't really looked.

A friend of mine on a budget arranged with a flower stall on the market for ten 'bouquets' - the kind that come in cellophane wrappers and had a bm pick them up from the stall on the morning of the wedding. They told the stall holder that they were prizes for a work do (as as soon as you mention 'wedding' the price rockets) and got ten lovely bunches of flowers for fifteen quid each. She just took the cellophane off! Arranged them in case (which she got for around three quid each) and they looked fantastic.

    Xx

If they are real flowers, then yes thats abaout right lol I cant justify spending that kind of amount of flowers that are going to die a few days later, so have gone for foam flowers...and have ordered a big order from a lady that makes them..they are very real looking and will last forever...or you can sell the table arrangements on then xxx

Sounds about right for real flowers, and it looks like you got a bit of a bargain because a lot of places will charge more when you mention the W word. I've seen bouquets at a florist shop much smaller than that for the same price and comprised roughly of the same types of flowers.

That is a really good price we have got 9 tables and our are costing about £400 without the toptable. I think the toptable is costing us close to £150.

This is one of the reasons why our flower budget has doubled as we are having real flowers, and they do cost more.

You could always ask them to give you a discount if you wanted to have more than the centre pieces?

I heard u can press the bouquet after, so you can keep it for ever ( I'm sure it's called pressing but not 100% sure) I'm guna look into it though coz I think if I'm spending that much money on flowers I want to keep the, forever. X
