Well, I have finally sorted out the last few bits of the honeymoon - booked a lodge near Dumfries with a hot tub etc for mon til fri, then a weekend in a lovely edinboro hotel - whee!

Anyway, the lodge I booked a while ago.

My sil to be and I were chatting, and she said she'd booked to go away whilst we were in honeymoon. It transpires she has booked a cottage about five miles away from us! Her mam and dad and husband are going too...tbh she says she thought we were just going to edinboro, but I'm sure I've talked about it with her before as she's stayed near there before.

I think h2b is a bit miffed, and im not too sure how to feel...I get on great with sil2b and his family, but I'm not sure I want them on honeymoon with me....

    Xx

Also, it's a fairly small place (Dumfries, which is the closest town - a couple of miles away for both of us, so I guess that we'll all be there most days), and it would be a bit awkward if we're in a nice restaurant having a romantic meal and they all walk in....I mean, I wouldn't want to just ignore them.

I know I'm being a bit silly....and I'd be more than happy to spend a day doing something with them, it just kinda undermines the whole getting away from it all.

    Xx

I think they are far enough away for you to not have to see them if you didn't want. You should be fine x

I agree with you Laura and I don't think you're not being silly. I'd be a bit miffed.

I'm sure your honeymoon will be lovely though as you'll be in your only little world with your new husband...maybe you should cacoon yourselves in the lodge and enjoys the hot tub all week!!! x

Awwwww hun, totally agree with you, would be miffed too xxx they are quite a way away from you and if they do ask you if you wanna do stuff with them, just be honest and say you're on your honeymoon, you don't have to say you don't want to be meeting with them, just say you've already got so much planned xxx

I can understand your point, however, if they are 5 miles away, it'd hardly on your doorstep. I would just explain that you and your h2b would like time alone whilst on hmoon - perhaps offer a half way that you may meet them for lunch/evening meal one night but lay down the rules now.

I wouldnt worry, turn your phones off and just have each other as company. Im gettin married abroad and all of our guests are literally on our honeymoon!! lol...some in the same hotel. We are just going for day trips on our own and things and maybe doing something when we get back.
Im sure your sil might feel uncomfortable imposing on your honeymoon anyway, so may suprise you and leave you to it??!

I kind of know how you feel and you have a right to be upset. I am getting married in my home country but our problem is his entire family is actually coming with us on our honey moon (Mum, Dad, 2 brothers and a girlfriend), it is their first time in the country and they have flown for 18 hours to get to the wedding so he feels he should be with them. My big problem is not just that they are coming with us but I am having to pay for them to come with us. Then he flys back here while I stay there for 2 months waiting for a visa to come back to him, so i'm not getting any time with him before I don't see him for so long

I would be a little miffed at this, you don't want to worry about bumping into them on your honeymoon but you may not see them at al so wouldn't worry too much about it xx
