When we booked our honeymoon, the agent said they would inform BA that we were a honeymoon couple and also the hotel in case they could offer an upgrade.
Was wondering if anyone had ever anaged to blag a flight upgrade? I've just emailed a friend of mine who works for BA, so be interesting to see what she says...

I think they are pretty good at upgrading but only if there is available space, can you imagine being upgraded but it being full and having to stand?! lol. I know that would never happen but that is the only reason I can see for not upgrading, if they are full on first class. :)

We got honeymoon extras from our hotel, but tbh the flight and hotel were full of honeymooners.

We've already been told that our room is being upgraded. Re flights. Try to dress smart and be polite if you want to be upgraded. If you were paying for first class you wouldn't want to be sitting next to someone who looked like they'd just left the set of Jeremy Kyle.
If you're getting married in wedding season you have less chance than 'off peak'.

I would say try but dont expect it. I worked on checkin at the airport for nearly 10 years and i only ever upgraded one 'honeymoon' couple and that was becasue they knew the airline station manager. Dress smart, be polite and you never know at the gate (were most complimentary upgardes happen) you might be in luck :-)
Where is your honey moon? because if it is a popular honeymoon destination then i bet you wont be the first couple to ask! If you know someone at BA then fantastic becasue in todays world it is all about who you know or you pay for the upgrade, it is cheaper to pay the supplement then to buy a business class ticket.
Are you longhaul with BA? as they have World travel plus cabins, (economy plus) a great alternative to world traveller for not a lot more in price. If you are going into europe, i woulnt bother, the leg room is about the same and the seats are still 3-3, just they dont sit anyone in the middle seat.

Im so jealous of your honey moon thou! wish i was going on one but can not afford too :-(

I got upgraded coming back from LA when chris lived out there. I complained about my flight out (it was rubbish) and then mentioned it when checking in. It was lovely! I slept for about 6 hours straight and I never usually slept on that flight x

Jnaden, we're flying to Las Vegas from Heathrow with BA at the end of the month. I am already an executive club member and collect airmiles. I spoke to a friend of mine who works for BA and she pretty much said the same as you. Dress well and you never know. I've heard it may be worth paying to upgrade to the world travel class, so may ask about that at check in. Here's hoping...

Ooh Vegas, lucky! i love Vegas! Yeah in WT plus there are only 7 rows in the cabin, 37inch leg room and i think you get a better 'meal' (ooh my BA training pays well!) I have heard its worth it from collegues, but i have only travelled in economy on BA, grrrr, didnt like my experience, but i was travelling back from Australia so bit of a journey! (ssshhh dont tell my employer!) Being part of the exec club too will help, if your silver or gold you have a good chance, blue, well, an ok ish chance! (when worked at airport we always upgraded the frequant flyers first).
Hope you have a fab honeymoon, we are going to try and get a night or two away somewhere local ish, unless h2b gets a wonderful well paid job between now and the wedding. (currently xmas temping and we are very tight on money) Vegas is fab you will love it, defo put a trip to the grand canyon in. :-)

Thanks for info. Checked online but it wouldn't give me a price for upgrading, might ring them tomorrow. 37" would be fab!! To be honest, I wouldn't mind if we had to 'slum it' in economy - it'll be our first flight alone in 5 years (we usually have our son) so we'll be able to watch a movie in peace and have a few drinks...
Hope you get something sorted. xx

Me and Leon managed to get upgraded to business class on a flight to Spain without even asking.

I've also managed to get an extra seat next to me and and friend when a flight wasn't full and extra leg room by asking so I think if you ask politely you never know what they might do for you.
