Can I ask the ladies that have already married or had the rsvp's back, what percentage of evening guests came/rsvp'd yes?
When we booked our venue, we gave numbers off the top of our head fr evening guests at 80 We are having 50 day guests
They have now sent us through the revised costing on our package which is fine but we remebered we had said 80 which we now both think is a little ambitious
I have drawn up a list and am at 60 extra guests for the evening but am wondering whether when the time comes to invite more people for the declines I know there will always be no shows, we had that at engagement party
any words of advice appreciated x

Night guests would also include the day time guests usually hun so that would only be an additional 30 guests

No its a package for 50 day & we gave number for an additional 80 in the evening

I was worried about this so really glad you've posted. How strict did people find venues with the evening numbers. We get 100 included in our package for the evening and wondered whether we should add on more 10 more of leave it at 100 to account for no shows? Would we get in trouble if we said 100 and it turned out there were 1 or 2 extra?
My venue advised to cater for 80% of evening guests on this basis you could invite 160 to account for any no shows x

I'm a bit confused Tori - so if i have 100 included on my package - I could have about 50 extra people with out adding to them to the catering?

Problem there though (in my mind) would be if the majority showed & there was not enough food Worst nightmare!

Lizzylou you would be able to have an extra 25. 100/80 x 100 = 125
Elle don't forget not everyone eats at an evening reception and some just pick. Maybe you might not want to go as far as 160 but you would be able to have more than 130

Oh I know hun but our wedding is on a friday so I am pretty sure some guests may not eat after work & come and scoff their faces! lol Im not sure I want 80 extra guests..............im at 60 now which I think will be nice on top of our 50 day but I run the risk of no shows against 60 Does that make sense? Therotecially, if 20 decline or dont show, I have 40 evening whereas if i invite the full 80, I could end up with the 60 evening guests
ARGGGGHHHHH Weddings eh?

some places are quite strict and make you cater for the exact number of evening guests. I went to a wedding recently and only 10 extra people turned up for the evening instead of the 50 expected!

Just make sure you get the rsvps back in good time to give the venue your final numbers.
At our venue we have to give the final numbers three weeks before xx

I'm confused; are there 80 additional people you actually WANT to invite, or just 60, and you're trying to make it up to 80? If you're trying to bump it up to 80, I really wouldn't; just stick with the 60, and see if the venue can adjust the evening numbers (they should be able to this far out).
We're having 50 day guests and probably an additional 30 to the evening, and plan to cater for 90-100% of our evening guests. All the venues we spoke to said to cater for about 75-80%, but honestly, for the sake of an extra couple hundred £ I'd rather know we have enough food than be worrying about people going hungry.

Sorry, I have confused you On our list is 60 We told them 80 when we booked so this is evening guest number they have priced We can always change it, thats not a problem. I dont want to invite people for the sake of it but I also dont want 50% of the 60 we invite to decline or not show Does that make sense?
I think my issue is it is actually out of my control and I need to accept that we should just invite who we want and hope the majority can come :-)

Unless your venue is huge, and having fewer people could have a serious negative impact on atmosphere (it can happen), I would stick with 60; I see no sense in inviting an additional 20 people you're half-hearted about just to bump up the numbers.
When we were looking at venues, a lot had minimum numbers of 60-70 for the day, and we only wanted 50 for the day; the venues just couldn't grasp why we'd pay for 60-70 people and only invite 50; but we didn't want to 'bump up' our numbers, we only wanted people at the day who were we REALLY close to.
So yeah, I'd stick with 60, and see if they can re-cost.
CommentAuthorElle23
Yeah i think your right. We are only having 50 to the day too & we are happy with who is on that list x
