The place we are getting married is quite flexible with what we can do, we are having a 4 course sit down meal for 50 in the day time, but we are a little undecided about the extra 50 evening guests, our options are
    A) buffet (sandwiches, sausage rolls, quiche, etc)
    B) hot sandwiches, bacon, sausage or hot pork and apple sauce.
Day time meal is at 3.30pm, evening will be around 8pm, what are your opinions?

I would say A as it caters for everyone (especially if you have any vegetarians coming as B is all meat!) xxx

I'd say do the hot buffet like bacon and sausages and chips etc - if you are planning on having a few drinks and your guests too that will be a lot more well received I'd think that a cold buffet - maybe if possible have a bit later at say 9? Gives people a bit longer to get hungry and a chance for your night guests to settle in a little as well before having to eat

thanks everyone, i personally would have loved to do bacon butties but we have decided (with the interference of my mother) to have the bog standard buffet, simply because, as many of you have said, i'd feel terrible if guests were left hungry and there wasnt a suitable option for them. Somehow this actually works out more expensive than hot sandwiches :s lol
    Thanks again :) x

we were going for the standard buffet but my niece as coeliac disease and there was nothing on there she could have. so we have changed to have the ploughman's which is a selection cheeses, home baked ham, new potatoes, lincolnshire pork pie, salad,French bread, cheese biscuits and pickles.

If its only your mum who's making you want the normal buffet I would put your foot down. My mother has tried to interfere many times. I have told her politely that it's my wedding. My venue is doing veggie sausages for the veggies. You could ask if they will do that for the veggies? X x

we're doing something similar. have a 3 course meal during day with guests then having a buffet put out around 8/9ish so that evening guests & day can pick at that to their hearts content. xx

Hot sandwiches are more popular these days and
    Most importantly cheaper!
