Now i know about other peoples diamonds falling out like mine has i would never buy anything from them. I had a necklace from them as well that broke easily and i had hardly even worn it. So far smooch has been good to us so still getting out wedding rings from them. I just hope nothing goes wrong with my E-Ring

I phoned ernest jones today and they still dont have my ring back so the lady called the quality control people who was looking into seeing if it was my fault or a manufacturing fault and when she called me back this afternoon she said that she wouldnt get my ring back till tomorrow along with a letter from them saying that it wasnt my fault and its to be fixed free of charge which is good but that now means my ring has to go away again and get fixed this time also i havent told them that i found my diamond that fell out so now i have a loose diamond that i dont know what to do with???

Keep it - get it made into another piece of jewellry? That's what I did when my first engagement ring lost a diamond. Ring was replaced under guarantee and then I found the missing diamond :-) Had the "lost" one made into a little solitaire ring for my birthday.

ive had my engagement ring for 3 years and its never budged and is due its free annual clean in june

clarabelle....i had the same problem with h2b ring from hs when it was taken into be replaired. i imagine as they are the same company they go to the same repairers. we got told it would take 4 weeks and it actaully took 11 weeks. then when it came back it looked completly different so the shop swapped it with one they had in stock!
hs do 10% of wedding ring if uour engagment ring is from there too xx

They just called and my ring is back in the shop so she said if i get my ring sent off to get repaired then it'll be another 4 weeks or the other option is that i get a new ring but as the ring they have in store is too big then they have to get it resized for me. I told the lady that my wedding ring is gettng made around my E-ring and would it be exactly the same and she said it will so i'm hoping the smooch person on here reads this and tells me what the think to put my mind at rest as i really want my ring back and back on my finger where it belongs. Its not going to take long to get it resized so fingers crossed its back soon XxX

I too have an Ernest Jones engagement ring and twice the stone fell out of the ring. First time they replaced the ring, then a stone fell out for a second time on the replacement ring. They gave me a brand new ring but completely different to my initial engagement ring. Yes it is lovely but it's not my original ring. The manager did say it had happened to another customer but it was rare for this to happen. So feel your pain.

OMG you girls have so frightened me. My engagement Ring is from EJ bought in aug 09, last year before guarantee expired i took it in to be replated. When i went to collect it the guy at the desk tried to give me somebody elses ring, i was in the shop arguing it wasnt my ring but they were adamant it was. i gave them 15 mins to find out where it was, whilst i left the shop to calm down.
wheni returned to the shop, staff were on phone to the workshop, who were still adamant it was my ring they had sent back. i spent ages trying to find a similar looking one to show them what mine was like. they then said if and when we locate it we will post it to you - WTF. I demanded personal delivery and a phone call from the manager. I spent all night in tears waiting for that call, and in the end i rang them and it appears they had sent my ring to someone else at a different branch (luckily the recipient never received it) and it turns out than when booking the job in the ticket no around the ring didnt match the paperwork.
i put a complaint in to customer services and was given the option of 2 no. replates F.O.C. or £25.00 voucher. i opted for the replates which after numerous calls back i finally received a letter to confirm that in APRIL 2011.
I dont want to get our wedding rings from there, but as we get discount and i also got a £25.00 voucher from them, h2b thinks it makes sense. Hmm i may have to show him this post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did think that if they did give me a new ring what happens if the diamond falls out of that one as well???? Also i hope i get a new diamond certificate and for it and yearly inspecting card as its a new ring. When i told h2b what was happening he wasnt 100% happy that i was getting a new ring even though its the same ring if that makes sense?? Martay if i was you i would be getting my wedding rings from them no matter how much of a discount they give us. I dont trust them anymore and i was also told that this was the first time this has happened????? Well it funny how many other people its happened to and not just ernest jones customers but H Samuel customers as well (they are basically the same company if anybody doesnt know)

well my ring wasnt perfect, and not from EJ. i noticed a large scratch in the diamond and they tried to have me off. They did replace the diamond but its stupid, these rings that cost a fortune and they cant even be mader properly.

I had a call from ernest jones last week saying they had my new resized ring back in and i could pick it up when-ever i want so off we went in to go get it and its not the same ring!!!!!! The ring that they had resized for me had a bigger setting for the diamonds and when i put the ring on it scratched my finger. So thankfully they still had my original ring there in the same bag and i compared them and from looking in the inside of the ring the have "scraped" more of the gold out if that makes sense. The sales guy did mention to me the price of gold being at an all time high but thats not right to try and give me a ring that has less gold in it!!! Well anyway my original ring is now away to get the diamond replaced and i have asked them to check the settings on the other diamonds so they dont fall out. I originally handed my ring in at the end of march and now i have to wait another 3 weeks till i get it back and they said that they would send it off as a prority!!!!

oh no...i have just been reading thru all of this.... My ring is also from EJ and i adore it, it needed re-sizing before i could take it away with me, which took 3 and a half weeks to do, ok fine....so i tied it on in the shop...and i think under all the excitement of having the ring now, didnt think too much about the size of it (probs my own fault!) but it is still far too big, i know fingers can change size throughout the course of the day with body temperature etc....but my ring is just spinning round on my finger. I am not even sure if it was sized at all in the first place coz in certainly dont fit me still :(
It needs to be taken back, but i dont have alot of time at the moment to go back into cambridge to sort this out, but i need to. I will also be keeping a very close eye on the diamonds, they look secure at the mo. thanks for letting us all know about htis issue xx

wow I have just read through all of tis andI'm shocked that so many people have had the same problems. I understand where the positive comments are coming from but surely the figues speak for themselves! to send your ring away in March and stil not have it back is a massive JOKE and I woud be demanding some sort of compensation. I also think itis worth looking into taking this thread further as the company clearly has a problem(understand it may be their suppliers but still). I hope you get your ring back and that it is all ok and thank you for the word of warning.xxx

It was a lady at my work posted something on FB so i googled it and it came up with a heap of complaints and something from watchdog which made me panic. Matthew keeps telling me not to panic but i just want my ring back. I thought 4 weeks was bad enough when it got sent away the 1st time but now they are taking the P**s but i just wanted other ladies to be aware of this and to keep an eye on their diamonds lol

a girl, who i dont particularly like but never mind, got her e ring from EJ and there was a prohlem with the diamond. They said they would alter the setting and tried to have her off by giving her a completely different ring with a smaller diamond. She luckily noticed but they said to wait as it needed sending off (they ddint explain why they tried to con her and give her a different one) and to keeop the replacement ring until then.... its now been 12 months and they keep getting excuses after excuses as to where the original ring is and when it will be received. She has unfort resigned herslef now to keeping the replacement as she doesnt see her original ring coming back. complaining has done nothing.

I have an update on my ring yesterday and im completly fuming!!!!!!!
I came home yesterday after having a nice afternoon out with h2b and our daughter to see we had a message on our phone and it was ernest jones calling to say they had an estimate for me to replace my ring!! They were meant to be fixing my ring but instead they have been pis-sing about getting a quote for the past 2 weeks when they should have been fixing it and they said i wsa paying for it even though they had already sent it off to quality control and they had said it was the manufacturing fault and i wasnt to pay anything. When we left home yesterday i was wondering when i was due to get my ring back and now after finding this out its going to be longer. I am so not impressed and after i got off the phone to erenest jones yesterday i realsied that i was pretty snappy with the guy and it wasnt his fault but i think i have a right to be a bit mad they have had my ring since the end of March!!!

They arent getting a penny from me. They keep asking if im in a hurry for it and i said no but im going to say that im needing it by a certain date. I was originally suppose to be getting married today!!!! but we had to move our date back but if i hadnt had my ER today then my wedding ring would have looked silly without it being there next to it

When I took my ring in to Tiffany's to have two balls added onto the inside to stop it twisting, they promised me it would be back in three weeks time. I explained that it was really important to get it back on time as we were going up to see my future in-laws and they hadn't yet seen the ring, so it was really important. As sure as eggs is eggs, they had it back, actually a couple of days earlier than expected! Maybe you could use that story to try and shivvy them along a bit? Oh and for the record, think it's awful what they're putting you through! Hx

After i had put it in again they said they would get it back asap so instead of 4 weeks to fix it wsa going to take 3 weeks so i was due to get it back on the 15th of this month but its taken them 2 weeks to get an estimate to get it fixed

I've had quite a few peices of jewellery from Ernest Jones, a very special to my heart diamond earring and necklace set, w/g earrings and a couple of w/g rings. The w/g gold from them tarnishes very quickly but they do offer one free rhodium platting. The earrings are what disappoint me the most as the backs do not fit them correctly and i have lost many earrings because of this. Thankfully my everyday ones are still ok as i purchased extra butterflys for them, but likewise the chains are not good quality either.
I really used to rate EJ and this was one of the only jewellers that i used, but now tbh i've slightly gone off the quality of the stock. The staff in my local shop are lovely and helpful, but thats no good if you've lost a diamond or valuable peice of jewellery. xx

I have also heard loads of complaints regarding the same issues so you are definitely not alone. I would keep a log of any phone calls, letters and any dealings with them with times, dates and outcomes to help you along. If it comes to it go to trading standards. Also ask them to give you the report from the quality control in writing too!

Hadn't seen this listing before but we went to EJ to buy our wedding rings yesterday, having said that the reason we chose to was that I had bought my ER from there in Feb 2005 and not had any problems with it at all, also got !0% off and a £75 voucher to spend in august. My ring does have stones in it so I'm glad I took out the extra insurance!
I hope you get it sorted soon, customer service is going downhill and I think that it's just a sign of the times, everyone is tightening their spending and I guess the first thing to go for some companies, is putting their customers 1st!
