following on from an earlier thread, We have chosen my entrance song but it has the word prayer in it once only, do you think this will be allowed by the registrar...... I know it cant be religous for a civil ceremony in a hotel but it is only said once at the beginning of the song....... its a song called 'love of a lifetime' by a band called Firehouse...... its a beautiful song and a perfect entrance but just this word is worrying me! x x

All you can do is ask them really, they might let you have it, depends on how strict they are!

I suppose it depends on the content. As using the word 'prayer' in a song doesn't make it religious. I would ask, but make sure you have the lyrics with you, or just send the registry office an email asking.

well tell them the song and the artist and see what they say. if they say yes before the day they cant tell you no on the day. I'd be fuming if they did and be suing them for ruining my day.

If they wanted to check the lyrics they could check it out themselves.

Prayer or pray isnt all that religious depending on the context its taken.

Just googled the lyrics and read the song - TBH I'd be extremely surprised if they refuse that song and would demand a decent excuse as the way it's spoken/written/sang isn't religious. It's about wishing for happiness for the future not that "God" or any other religious deity has got any bearing in it.

Sorry a little rant-y there. I would just be annoyed if the registrar told me I couldn't have my choice - at the moment no problems as I haven't chosen anything yet :)

I'd say your best bet is to ask the Registrar, some places are that strict it wouldn't pass but some are more relaxed and because it's not in a religious context it would be allowed

    It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D
