I'm in a bit of a pickle, I have a platinum engagement ring, but due to budget we can't afford platinum wedding rings. Could I go for a titanium wedding ring instead?
    Thanks in advance :)

I know that you should stick to same metals where possible, but I don't know about platinum and titanium! I'm pretty sure that titanium cannot be resized though.

I don't know if palladium would be any better? X

My engagement ring is platinum and my wedding ring is palladium. I've been married 4 months and there is a slight discolouration on the side where they both touch, but I'm sure all rings do that. Thinking about it, it's just a bit 'duller' rather than discoloured. :)

The metal hardness will very and the weaker metal may sustain damage from the harder due to continual rubbing and friction. Have you thought about maybe having temporary wedding rings? And once you have the money saved get the ones you want?

I'd go with Victoria's idea as there can be damage with the 3 metals rubbing against each other

As said above, it is recommended both rings are of the same metal to avoid one wearing down the other. Titanium is a very hard metal so it may wear down your platinum ring much quicker. Titanium also cannot be re-sized and something else to think about is it cannot be cut, say if you were to have an accident and the medical staff needed to cut off your rings xx

I guess it also depends on how often you wear your rings.. if you wear them all the time and never take them off then I suppose they will wear quicker as opposed to if you take them off to do things like the housework, showering, etc. xx

have you been to many jewellers? you should try and pop to birmingham and head to like the jewellery quarter, so much cheaper than the high street. or have you seen if anywhere will do payment plans so you could get the platinum ring straight away x

My ring is from the jewellery quarter- it is such a great place to go- the shop owners are all so passionate- most are made to order and you can get something at fantastic quality, very unique and much better quality than a bog standard Jewellers.
