    Hi all..

I just wanted to know if i am the only one in this boat. My H2b asked me to marry him last month after spending a week on a lads holiday it was all a bit random but not to much of a surprise as we have been talking about it for months (its true what they say you defo know when you have found the "mr right") so he proposed with no ring just a promise and i must admit i did at the time tell him i wanted to choose my own ring.. after spending a day in Birmingham jewellery quarters i found a ring a loved but it was nearly 2 grand. so that was out the question as we are both students and he keep reminding me that "if he had the money he would" that was all it seemed to be in every shop .. so i have now said that he has to pick one for me that its clear why women dont pick there own rings because its just depressing hahahahaha .. i just wanted to know how people felt .. has anyone ever been disappointed with their engagement ring.. did anyone ever had a long term stand in ring untill you found the right now sorry for the long message just am so confused!!! xxxxx

I picked mine... its second hand from a little jewlellers it cost a wopping £295! we also paid on a new credit card with six month interst free on purcheses... so spreading the cost.
Lots of bigger jewllers do interest free payments if you wanted but i would look at small family ones and second hand rings, there was a good site i once found when googling but cant remember it now!

Hi, we got engaged 23rd dec 2008 it was out of the blue but lovely, i only got my ring this year in feb on my 30th birthday, i wasn't bothered if i had a ring or not we knew we were going to get married and said we would save the money instead so it was a massive surprise when i got mine, i don't know how much it was but i know he wouldn't have gone mad as we aren't like that, it's the token of the ring and what it means that counts, like our wedding rings we ordered yesterday they were £35 each from argos white gold they look lovely xx

I had to wait 3 months for my ring to finish being made and delivered, but it was soo worth the wait.. Kev picked it, and I love it (pics on profile) Maybe you can try an online jewellers as you get more for your money.. Ebay have some fab shops that sell gorgeous rings.. And you're only paying for the ring, not the upkeep of the shop and staff wages.. so works out cheaper!
Also it's not what the ring looks like, how much it costs.. it's what it means that counts.. hope you find the right one soon though xx

My ring was Mike's grandmother's engagement ring and I love it! Cost him £35 to have it altered and it got valued at £700 (which we could never have afforded so everyone's happy lol)

We picked my engagement ring together, it cost over $2,700 roughly £2,000 equivalent. I bought him an engagement ring too, £89.99 from H Samuels.

I just found the perfect wedding ring too, £100 from beaverbrooks, need to put a piccy up though, but will put the link onto my wall & I found a lovely Tungsten ring for him as he works with harsh chemicals.

Even though I have a pretty expensive ring I would have been happy with anything he bought me, but I was completely bowled over by the ring I have, same with my wedding ring, even when I looked at others I knew those were the ones for me.

I have a bracelet from Birmingham Jewellery Quarter given to me by a very good friend & it is excellent worksmanship, so I can understand why you would want that one you have seen.

Try other places, even second hand maybe, you never know what you might find!

Trying places like H Samuels & Argos will help if you want to get like a Bridal Ring Set (engagement & wedding ring) & then when your first anniversary comes up maybe by then he could buy a more expensive eternity ring maybe??

    Good luck :D

my engagement was a complete surprise but I had looked at rings that I liked and was absolutely shocked that my H2B chose something perfect and exactly what I would have chosen...£1800 but I'll never want to change it and I think its so much more special that H2B chose it for me

my h2b picked my ring himself, he studies all my jewellery for months and looked a the types of rings that I currently owned to help him choose lol. He picked spot on and I love my ring, its not the standard solitaire ring that is a typical engagement ring, which is fine with me as Im not 100% keen on them. it cost £200. Enough to be special, but not enough for me to be petrified of even washing my hands with it on lol.

When I was 18 I got engaged, the guy (my ex) took me shopping for a ring he said he had £100 for a ring which although wasnt a lot I was too excited to care. Then he found a pair of shoes he had to have! We went to McDonalds for lunch....all the time I was thinking the £100 was besides the money hed already spent. By the end of the day he had just under £30 left and he picked me a ring for £24.99. I felt very deflated! Needless to say my current boyfriend and h2b has put a lot more effort into buying my ring. xx

We played the "diamond game" for months and months and we seemed to agree on what styles we liked. However, in the end it was a complete surprise....he had taken ideas from different rings which we liked and had one designed and made for me by a local independant jeweller.

I can see the first one but the second link does not work (added the h at the start too)

I like the ring..it's a size N but I think you said you were a smaller size?

Anyways, I've posted a link for you on your wall to have a look at.

we chose mine together. i wanted the best diamond he could afford so we settled on 1ct f colour vvs1 clarity set in platinum. darent say how much its worth lol. ive been engaged couple of times before, the first one was about £500 and the second by ex husband was £750. i dont think it matters what the price is as long as you love it, i've loved each one ive had. i love standing at jewellers windows gazing at the rings - am i sad or what ha ha

We chose mine together too. I knew i wanted a purple stone - that was it.

We managed to find a tanzanite one in a jewellers on a white gold band and it wasnt expensive at all.

We've since been told its quite an expensive ring!

I guided Iain to mine lol...waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before he proposed, we started looking at rings whenever we were in town, and I would tell him what styles I liked and didn't like, and then eventually he would tell me which ones out of the selections he thought I'd like. Then he finally got me to actually go into a shop and try on a couple of rings, so I picked my top 3, and tried them on, then narrowed it down to 2, giving Iain the final choice. I didn't know when he would be buying it either!! His fave was a much bigger version of the ring I have, and although I loved it, I thought the smaller diamond ring was better suited to me as I am just a mummy, and not a posh girl haha....now I've got used to weraing a ring, I secretly wish I had let him have his choice.....even though I still love love love my ring! We'd been together 7 years the night we got engaged, so you can imagine how long we've been 'researching' whilst saving up lol xx

My h2b picked my ring and I love it! I secretly looked it up online - not to see the price just to check what cut etc honest!! And it cost £1175 which is way way more than I ever thought he's spend but I think he paid it up interest free for 6 months or something x
