Having just watched Four Weddings, it got me to thinking. Why do dance floors at weddings always look empty? How do you keep your guests dancing?
CommentAuthorjanetx71
oh yeah i watch that all the time im addicted lol but it does worry me sometimes like the dancefloor being empty but its worse when you see the ones where hardly anyone turns up and they have all these empty seats and the ones where people start to leave at like 9pm and its deserted lol i think you just have to hope for a really good dj xxx

How do you turn your "hope" for a good DJ into a certain great DJ???
It seems that everyone gets up for the cheese but dont stay, I couldnt stand a party of pure cheese.
I love the sound of a band.

I have a good bunch of friends who love a good boogie and their job on the day is to keep people dancing. With my friends and family i dont see it being a big problem.
CommentAuthorJELLYBABY
If that happens at my wedding I'm gonna work harder plying everyone with alcohol!!

My friends and family love a dance...this is one of the few things I'm not worried about :)

I've heard that the guests are more likely to dance if the bride and/or groom are also seen dancing a fair bit - time for us all to hit the dancefloor it seems!
Now, finally, Mrs Riley
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words

Have you asked each guest to provide you with 3 songs they would love to dance to? x

My friends are always the first on the dance floor! Hopefully they'll encourage everyone else to get up there. I'll be there all night long (h2b will escape the minute first dance is over and will prop up the bar instead lol) x

we are having a play list..as i cannot do with cheese at all! i have said i will not be selfish and will 'cope' with just a few (as i know ppl there will love to dance to...erm....cheesy songs lol) but i will also say to the DJ...if he is playing a certain 'type' of song and there are loads of ppl up dancing, dont change it straight away, just coz its on the list... I am quite lucky as H2B and most of his mates DJ....so there will be lots of tunes we like :) (not sure my mum will be on the dancefloor to bangin DnB! lol bless her x)

Dear Stave & All,
A professional DJ will ensure that the dance floor is never emptied! he would be able to recognise the average age present at the celebration and realise and adapt suitable music accordingly.
Unfortunately, many couples spend £000's on a wedding, rightly so, it is probably one of the happies days in their lives, if not the happiest, then unfortunately on saving what is probably £200 economise on the entertainment. I said this over and over again, your DJ can either make or break your special day, make sure you pick up references and never go for the cheapest option! A fair prics for an average wedding and a good DJ is around £300.00 all inclusive for the night!
The DJ could also offer the guests to select any tracks or request what ever on the night. If the DJ is a professional he should have no problem in accepting requests, on the contreary this should make his life much easier! This is where DR DJ Promotions excel.....We can play any track, (yes guaranteed or your money back!) requested on the spot and on the night....hence our dance floors are never empty!

Im not bothered if people are on our dancefloor we are having rock anyways so hardly everyone cup of tea!

this is why we splashed out on a band as only having 80 people is causing us a little worry (50 day, 80 eve) but the dancefloor is small and we have made it certain peoples jobs to always be on the dancefloor and keep things going. we were going to have a dj but we read somewhere that 90% of brides wish they had spent more on entertainment as after spending thousands, the evening let it down and that is what people remember more than a pretty dress or flowers or even venue. Therefore, budget soon shot up from 300 to 1200 for a decent band. You can get good bands from 800 though that seemed to be able to do the job but try to go from recommendation which was what we did..... we fully researched our band and then called our venue to rate the bands and got them to help us choose.

Kinkyemo - same here, we want to make sure there's lots of our taste in music - punk, ska, reggae, rock.....but we're going to try and have a mix of plenty of other stuff too so everyone can enjoy it - I'll dance to pretty much anything. (Unless its cheese/pop etc!)
