For those of you who are feeling the stress of organising 'the big day' is too much, maybe you could do what we are doing . . .
Our wedding is all booked for the end of this year but, unbeknown to anyone, we are eloping to Gibraltar next month! Just the two of us in a private ceremony. Can't wait!!

Just an update . . . looks like we about set to go with our eloping! Paperwork just about sorted. Photographer booked - and only £175!! He's going to be one witness and hopefully we'll find some willing body to be the other. Have even ordered 'Elope announcement cards' for the party when we get back. Can't wait :-)

Gib is a nice alternative to Gretna actually - because it's part of the UK there's no residency requirement beforehand too :) Congrats on your upcoming elopement :)

I'd love to do that but I'd start wanting to take a few people too like my parents etc etc then it snowballs and *bam* that's a 100 person guest list!
Definitely going to keep it in mind if things get stressy - elope and have a big party on returning lol.

My other half really wanted to do this....

but as this is my second marriage (hes too) i never had the big wedding thing last time (he did)
so i opted not to do it..

i wanna get married and be centre of attention for the day lol...

Wow lucky! me h2b wanted to do this, just us and jet off abroad and get married then have party when we get back but i really wanted my grandparents to see me get married. Sounds wonderful though!

Everyone keeps telling us to go abroad!!!! Honestly! Bunch of miserable so and so's!!!! H2b would love to do this as his family have given nothing but hassle but I refuse to do something I dont really want to do because of other people. It does sound so exciting though!!!

We thought about it briefly but knew h2b parents would be devestated to have missed it and also because we have 3 kids we just couldn't leave out. So just having a small and inexpensive wedding in 4 months instead of a bigger one next year. But sounds exciting what you are doing, hope you have an amazing day! Watch out for those thieving monkeys though, lol, my mum and dad met in Gib and they were cheeky enough then so goodness knows what they are like now! :) x

I'd love to do this, regardless of how annoyed anyone in our families would be... half of them don't take our wedding plans seriously anyway... eloping means they'd have to just suck it up and accept it

And would save me all the planning - h2b is a typical male and doesn't really care about planning the details of the wedding (although he's good at saying no to my more fanciful ideas)

I wish we could elope :( Hope everything goes wonderfully for you, I'm so jealous!:)
