Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum :-) My fiancé and I are getting wed in York on Saturday 15th March 2014.
We are having a super small wedding; just the two of us with our 1 year old daughter and my fiancé's 12 year old daughter. We got engaged early this year and we have decided to elope in secret! We have a lot going on with family disputes etc and decided that just for once we'd do something just for us; no drama/stress from feuding families etc spoiling our day!
Only problem is I'm bursting to talk wedding planning and can't trust anyone not to spill the beans so here I am :-) We are not from York but love the city having visited plenty of times.
So; is anyone else eloping?! And is anyone else marrying in York?
Can't wait to talk all things wedding with you all; finally! :-)

York is lovely, have only been twice when I was a lot younger but its such a lovely place.

I live in York - and got married there too! At The Grange Hotel, which was lovely.
Me and my now husband loved the idea of eloping however both of our families would have been very hurt and upset had we done it - I'm the only daughter and husband is the last of his family to get married, so wasn't an option for us.

Lana the registry office where we're marrying can provide two witnesses although said our photographer can be a witness too (when I find one!!)
Ooh LauraJo I can pick your brains then! The Grange is lovely; I looked there. We've gone for Bootham Suite at reg office and then we're going to Grays Court for a meal I think :-) Can you recommend a photographer in York? And a hair/makeup person? Thanks :-)
I know some of our family will be disappointed that we have done it this way and possibly upset too which is of course the last thing I want. However the ones that know us well and truly care about us will understand why we've chosen to do things this way. x

Not long to go now LauraE; all I have done is booked the registry office, bought my shoes (spotted in Debenhams sale for £8 so couldn't resist!) and started my diet haha! How about you; how is your planning coming along? x

not going too bad thanks, booked the venue, got my dress, grooms suit and arranged hire for others, chosen the bridesmaid dresses, just need to get them measured etc, booked the flowers, dj, photographer and videographer, just need to sort out cake, chair covers, centre pieces, hair and make up, gifts, my shoes, bag and jewellery (i say just to sort out but still feels like a lot lol).
Bargain for your shoes, hope i find some like that when i start looking! x
