i thought rose apples. I was thinking rubard and custards but I dont want 80's I want victtorian so figure the rose apples would be good, pear drops yes is a good one, maybe sugared almonds and then get some truffles.

    Humbugs and cough candy?
If you have Victorian jars they would look awesome

I think in the evening works best, although maybe see if you can have it out longer than the food as people won't eat the sweets til after the buffet

LOL.....I just took this list from the list I have bought.....
If you dont know what some of them look like suzki123, then I have a thread called
''Things I have bought/booked and made so far'', and there are pictures of the sweets I have got on there......some of you may just buy them as retro sweets.....unfortunately I am old enough to remember them! LOL

I would do the sweet buffet in the evening, after your main buffet meal. This way, the evening guests get to enjoy it and no-one will spoil their dinner! (I have a lot of naughty cousins that would just scoff pic n mix and eat nothing else!)

You could have it in jars all laid out on a side table so it looks pretty and also works as decoration throughout the day until everyone is allowed to dig in later in the evening?
    xx

I'm not sure it will fit in your day
It may just be the way I have read it but it seems it's gonna be tricky to fit it in
Sweet wise you can match it to your theme with a bit of shopping around
I would say evening reception, but to be honest I would not of thought of having it at any other time x

    thanks girls,
We have decided to have it on display for the whole day but put a sign on sayong 'do not touch' and then the band can announce wehn the evening buffet is on that guests can help themselves to the sweetie buffet after they have eaten their evening buffet and point them in the right direction. That way its on display and can be seen throughout the day so will be there and present for photos.

We spoke to the woman in the olde sweet shop who has advised us on:
humbugs as they no longer make bulls eyes,
    rhubarb and custards
    strawberry creams
    rosey apples,
    turkish delight
    pear drops
fruit drops and some of the boiled sweets above you girls mentioned so thanks for that. Just no got to pick 7 from the lists

We have found crystal stands/bowls of different shapes and sizes to present and are going to drape pearls, vintage necklaces etc around them.

i have 20 varieties, and I bought 2 bags of each......I only have 20 guests but I am sure they can eat some and then take some home. I fully believe I will also have some left over after that, so I can make good use of them myself I am sure! LOL
