It's restrictive, but it's guaranteed to work if you're strict!!!

    There are 4 steps

Attack phase - Can last between 1-10 days. You have unlimited access to ANY of these foods at ANY time and EAT AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE!

    1. Lean meats: beef (except ribs and rib-eye), veal, grilled or roasted without oil or fat
    2. Offal: kidneys, liver, beef tongue (tip)
    3. All poultry except duck and goose, all without skin
    4. All fish, fatty, lean, white, oily, raw or cooked
    5. All shellfish
    6. Low-fat ham, sliced low-fat chicken
    7. Eggs
    8. Non-fat dairy products
    9. At least 1.5 litres of water
    10. Oat bran (supplied in the cereal aisle at supermarkets)
    11. A compulsary 20-minute walk per day (being relatively active for part of the day)
    12. Extras: coffee, tea (skimmed milk), vinegar, flavourings, spices, herbs, pickles, lemon, salt and mustard (all in moderation)

    NO FIZZY DRINKS!!!

After you have completed this phase you move on to the Cruise Phase:

    You keep eating everything on the attack phase foods and add the following vegetables, raw or cooked, at any time and any quantity;

    tomatoes
    cucumbers
    radishes
    spinach
    asparagus
    leeks
    french beans
    cabbage
    mushrooms
    celery
    chard
    aubergines
    courgettes
    peppers

You can include carrots, beetroot and artichokes providing you don't eat them at every meal.

You will need to alternate your days of having proteins and vegetables with days of just having proteins until you reach your desired weight.

By this stage you will have reached your target weight.

    Consolidation Phase:

    You are allowed:
the protein foods from the attack phase
the vegetables from the cruise phase
one serving of fruit per day, except bananas, cherries or raisins
2 slices of wholemeal bread per day
    40g of cheese per day
2 servings of starchy food per week (rice, potatoes, pasta etc)
lean cuts of lamb and pork
2 celebration meals per week - you are free to choose but DON'T BINGE!!!!
1 day of pure protein per week on the same day every week without fail

    Permanent Stabilization Phase

    1. Go back to eating what you want 6 days out of 7, while keeping the consolidation foods as your safety base and platform
    2. Hold on to everything you've learnt and your new good habits
    3. Enshrine your one day a week that is pure protein for the rest of your life
    4. Live your life as though lifts and escalators do not exist
    5. Have 3 tablespoons of oat bran every day for the rest of your life

Hope this helps you ladies! I've been doing the diet since Wednesday and I've lost 3 lbs :)

if you need any extra help with it message me xxx Good Luck xxx

    Sorry for uber long post

that sounds like an uber strict atkins diet. Doing Atkins gave me very painful gallstones! well at least i am blaming atkins for them anyway. However, it was very effective at losing a stone quickly, after that it became a hassle

Similar to rest of the crash diet plans, Dukan diet promises a significant deal of weight loss during its initial phases. But since it is yet another restrictive diet plan, there are some potential Dukan diet problems that you may have to deal with. Dukan diet stresses on the process of ketosis in which the body attacks its own fats. This process makes you cranky and hunger ridden! Such restrictive diets often make you gain weight rather than losing it. Since it is a high protein low carb diet, it directly aims at the kidney functions and creates potential risks of various kidney diseases. This diet is also found unsafe for the people who are at the risk of electrolyte imbalance. Since the initial phases of the Dukan diet contain low carb and no fibers, the body falls short of the daily required amount of fiber, which results in several health conditions like constipation and diarrhea.

The high protein Dukan diet is an open invitation to several health conditions like gout and high cholesterol levels hence, the dieters having a heredity of both these medical conditions are on the verge of getting easily affected by them. According to Dr. Dukan, you should consume a lot of water and oat bran to avoid the fiber deficiency which is experienced during the 'attack phase' of Dukan diet. Some other side effects of Dukan diet are: high uric acid levels and tartar buildups in the mouth. One of the most common Dukan diet side effects is induction flu. Induction flu is caused as withdrawal symptoms of carbohydrates and fats. During induction flu, the dieter suffers with severe headache, lethargy, nausea, increased irritability, lack of concentration and increased crankiness! In short, the dieter suffers with all the symptoms of flu except fever and chills.

The aforementioned Dukan diet risks can't be neglected for the health reasons. All in all, remember that Dukan diet is neither scientifically proven nor the best way to lose weight and hence, you always need to be considerate about all the possible Dukan diet side effects. The best thing to do is to consult your health care provider and dietitian about its effects on your body before opting for such diets.

Hi. I've been on this diet for two weeks and lost 1st (admittedly I have a few more to lose!) so its working for me. The only reason I'm doing it is to re-train me and my brain into eating healthily again. I was so used to getting in from work eating a bag of crisps, chocolate and when its my H2B's turn to cook it was always take-away, I needed something to boost me and my confidence and this seems to have done the trick. Cakes, crisps, fatty foods dont interest me now, so although I dont think I will follow it religiously, it certainly has taught me to eat heartily and healthily once again and thats what I wanted.

I agree lil miss but I have lots of weight to lose so thats probably why I've lost so much the first couple of weeks, but my aim is to lose 2lb a week with the odd treat but not pigging out how I used to. My H2B is monitoring me as well and he has said if it looks like I'm losing too much too quick or I'm suffering from any side effects, I'm to come off it as he would rather love me big than not at all! (I cried when he said that and I'm teary now ! What a big softie I am).

Breastfeeding is one of the best ways to lose weight as the body uses the fat that it stored whilst you were pregnant (even if you don't think it did) for the specific purpose of feeding smallfry. You use a lot of energy producing milk!

I saw this in the daily mail last month and decided to give it a go, today was my first day of 'attack' and to be fair I've been preparing for it all weekend, so I have plenty of meat to choose from. I got my free personalised plan off the website and this is the infor it gave me....

Is the weight you wish to be your True Weight?
Your True weight is theoretically 11 st 3 lbs. This is a little less than the target weight that you indicated on the questionnaire. I will help you attain your target weight of 11 st 7 lbs. It will be all the better that you achieve this weight and maintain it.
If you want to calculate again your True Weight click here
By starting today you will weigh 11 st 7 lbs on the 25/05/2011.
You'll have to follow 3 phases of my method, this means a 251 day programme to permanently stabilize your new weight.

I have 4 days of attack and 102 days of cruise, followed by 145 days of consolodation, and this should take me to my target weight at the end of May. I've always done WW and have lost 3 stone but with another 2 to go, I have plateaued for the last 3 months, I feel that the new WW is very much protein based now anyway, but this way I feel I might do well from just taking my food back to basics, I do tend to struggle with too much choice! Anyway will see how it goes, in for a penny and all that!

Be interested to see if this works in the long run. Am always sceptical about fad diets. At the end of the day the best way to lose weight is to eat less rubbish and exercise more. We all know this but we look for quick fixes instead of taking responsibility for ourselves and changing our eating habits and lifestyle.

The point to this diet is that it MAKES your body target your stored fat and use that as energy rather than putting more energy into you're body!!!

I'm exercising as well as dieting!!!

If you read what the doctors say about it though it puts a lot of stress on your kidneys and isn't good for you to do. I think I will stick to the slimming world as it does work and doesn't put your health at risk.

Wow, sounds interesting but too complicated for me. I can't even follow Slimming World to the letter as I find that too restrictive at times. I simply count calories and eat what I want in moderation. Oh I take regular gentle exercise too, plus a weekly Zumba class as well.

Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)
