    Hello,

We are getting Married in November this year in a CofE church in our village. My fiance has a double barrelled surname - 'Redford-Knight' following his parents divorce but we both want to take his birth surname (Knight) and drop the added one. We have given our 2 daughters the surname 'Knight'.
I have spoken to the church office and they have advised we provide his birth certificate as ID and fill out the paper work with his birth surname.
Is there anything we need to BEFORE the wedding so that once we are married we are both legally 'Knight'

    Thanks in advance

Was the change of name done legally by a solicitor? Also was it done before he was 18? Only ask as when myself and my ex changed our two older boys surnames from his real father's surname to his step father's they said to us that as the ex had his changed to his SF's name prior to 18, this is void from then on and he would of had to changed it anyway.

Not sure if that made sense at all.

Thanks for your reply! Yes it was done legally and when he was about 10 or so.

It might be worth checking with a solicitor then as my ex's was done when he was younger as well to his step father's name, when he was 18 he met up with his real father again and started using his name (his birth name). When we went to the solicitor about it, they said as he was 18 it was up to him to sort out if he wanted to keep his step father's name and could go back to his birth name.
