So yes I'm almost 30 and still have no license. I literally have no interest in driving but as my daughter (9) gets older the more she's out and about doing things the more I realise I need a vehicle. Ive been having lessons since around October 2015, I took my first test in March but failed. With the wedding coming up it's becoming a real drain on my finances and in all honesty Ive lost heart for it. My second test is tomorrow and instead of feeling nervous I'm resenting the idea of it. I havent told my partner its tomorrow which is giving me real anxiety and making me get stomach pains.... I just know I'll fail and with all the wedding stress it's just something I dont need.
How many times did it take for you to get your license?

I passed on my third attempt, my first I just messed up big time, second one I think personally I should have passed, third one I refused for the examiner to fail me again (same one each time) so I asked for my instructor in the back, they don't like it as if they fail you, you have back up to appeal. Needless to say I passed. This was many years ago though when it was just the driving test

I passed my test first time which is probably not what you want to hear!! Lol. Maybe your lack of want/motivation for it will go in your favour as you are going to be less nervous compared to what you would be if you really really wanted it - maybe it will make you calmer and more relaxed? All the best for tomorrow - let us know how you get on x

Lol Flossie, its ok I was genuinely interested in how many times it took people. Of course my partner finds it hilarious that I failed because he was a first timer too. He doesnt like the idea of me driving, mainly because he doesnt like the idea of me being in accident not that he doesnt have faith in me. I'll log in tomorrow and let you all know I failed. :-D x
I passed second time with only two minors. I hated the theory bit and in my opinion worse than the actual test. You know what to expect this time so fingers crossed for you. :-) xx

I passed mine third time. The first time I drove in a bus lane so automatic fail, I can't remember what I did the second time as it was 13 years ago but I know I was sooo nervous on my 3rd one I went to the doctors for tablets to calm my nerves. Passed that time thank goodness. x

I don't have a car license either just a motorbike one! For that I failed the first time because I was three minutes late...... The guy wouldn't test me. My fiancé passed his car first time and failed his first bike! It's all very variable and so many factors involved, including quotas and the mood of the tester!!
Good luck :)

I passed second time. My dad passed 5th time. I wouldn't worry about it. My OH passed first time but he is a driving freak. He took advanced driving lessons with an IAM instructor before he passed and then the full IAM course afterwards.

Thanks ladies. My instructor is a lady at the school my daughter attends, I saw her today she just beamed at me but didnt mention tomorrow. For that I was grateful because I have felt utterly sick all day.
I hope the weather perks up tomorrow as Chorley is a place of roundabouts and hills. argghhhhh.

I didn't even know you could have your instructor with you! I used my instructor's car so that I was using a car I was used to, but he waited back at the test centre for me to get back, then gave me a ride home afterwards as a "well done", lol.

I passed 2nd time, but that's quite good for my family. My mum and dad each took more than 7 attempts. I even had a friend who was having lessons and the instructor told her not to waste any more money as she was never going to be a driver!!!

Now, please don't laugh....I passed my test on my 8th (yes 8th!) go. I think reason I kept failing was down to really bad nerves, I kept working myself into a right old state every time. I also told a lot of people and my mum kept telling people too and I felt a lot of pressure to pass. When I did pass, I never told ANYONE I was taking my test lol xx

Hey I passed mine 3rd time too- first time wasn't really my fault, evening the examiner said so but he had to brake for me as this truck just about rammed us off the road.
2nd time, I was in a new car which I wasn't used to and messed up reverse into the bay
3rd time was literally the morning I was going traveling, it was soooo frosty that we tonight it may be canceled, I was the first test of the day and the traffic was a nightmare, it tooling ,oat of the test to just get down the road! Then we had to do all the maneuvers, he tried to het me to do a parallel park where cars were coming speeding over a hill and you couldn't see them- I told him it wasn't safe so we drove round and found a side road. He kept looking at his watch as if to say hurry up so I did my park sooo quick but perfect, even he was surprised lol
Luckily I passed but my instructor was convicted I had crashed as when I got back to the test centre all other cars had been and gone!
I passed on my third test. I was a very nervous pupil so my instructor booked my last test but didn't tell me the date, just took me to the test centre on the day. So much better not having the chance to worry about it so much. I really dislike driving but do it because I have to.

I passed third time. First time I thought I passed as I did everything like he asked. (I think the examiner took an instant disliking to me) second time was my own fault. Third time I was in rush hour traffic and spent most of the time sat at traffic light. Passed with 2 minors.
Good luck for tomorrow you'll be fine. Let us know how you get on

I passed 2nd time but I was 28 and had taken many, many lessons over 10 years before I finally made it.
Had to break on a roundabout first time and the guy went 'careful!' so I knew it was all over lol! Second time I just decided to breath and take my time and thankfully it worked out. Good luck for tomorrow x

Don't worry about it, it took I passed my test on the 7th time!! I really wasn't ready for my 1st test but my driving instructor insisted on my trying to take the test. The other I just keeped on failing on really silly little things or not getting my manoeuvre rite. But shear determination keeped me going and I did eventually pass ☺️. Just don't give up! I only told my mum and my husband (although he was my bf back then lol) that really helped as I didn't have meany people to tell that I failed. Many don't tell your Fiance next time just keep it up your self and then many you won't be so nervous? X

Thanks ladies. My examiner this time was so nice, he was calm and had patience for my little mistakes and chatted to me throughout. When I clipped the curb I knew Id failed and instantly relaxed. The rest of the test was a breeze for me. Such a shame as my sheet was near perfect. Because my examiner was nice I am not fretting my next try, I'm just going to go in and do my best.
I took your advice as well, I asked my instructor to book my next one and to just one day spring it on me that we're going to the test center to save this stress ive had next time. When I have time to dwell on things it completely wipes me out, so who knows when I'll next be tested :-)

I finally passed on my 6th attempt! I started learning when I was 18, gave up after failing my test 5 times when I lived in Shropshire, started learning again after moving into my Mum's for a while in 2006. I gave up when I ran out of money, again but had more lessons when me and Hubby moved in to his Nan's old house to save money for our own house at the end of 2009. Finally passed in July 2010! I was almost 31 :o) My instructor sat in the car during my test and I had some nerve calming tablets from the doctor which really helped. I only had 3 minor faults. Only a handful of people knew I was taking it.
One of my Sisters passed on her 7th go and my youngest Sister passed on her 4th go.
Don't give up! It will be worth it in the end :o) xx
