    hi Ladies

We are not having an open bar - finances will not stretch that far and tbh I think people take the mick at times.
I am wondering what to do about a drinks package.....could I ask what you ladies are having?
eg : drinks on arrival, wine on the tables, fizzy for the toasts?
How many bottles of wine per table is acceptable?

    thanks
    lisa x

I'm not having an open bar or money behind the bar for the same reason, someone has even told me that they can't help themselves and that they would be ordering top shelf whisky if it was an open bar. They suggested I bought some cheap bottles of wine to keep behind the bar, I think stuff that.

    I've got a drinks package.

Bucks fizz on arrival, 1 glass of wine with the meal, 1 glass of sparkling for the toast...

I think that's plenty, we're buying people three drinks and a 4 course meal, plus canape's

Personally if I were to invited I would probably expect a drink on arrival and a drink to toast... but I would not be disappointed or upset if I went to one where no drinks were provided so I don't think there is a minimum you have to buy

We're not having anything behind the bar. But have a drinks package which includes a welcome drink, half a bottle per person on tables and a toasting drink. We went to a wedding last year, there were 10 of us on the table and there was a bottle of white and a bottle of red. We didn't even get a glass each!x

In our drinks package we had cocktail each with the canapés ( we bought an extra cocktail,so everyone had two each if wanted) half a bottle of wine with dinner and a glass each for the toast...
We went to two wedding after ours where there both didn't have drinks with the meal ( we had to buy our own) only a jug of soft drink, one of these weddings didn't even have anyone at the bar for us to get buy our own drinks while eating ( staff was busy with the meals) and we didn't even have a drink with the toasts.... However both very lovely wedding.

Sameas said above, welcome drink, glass of wine with meal (we have now been told they can switch for 1/2 pint of draught beer/cider etc ) then having top up for toasts as neither are a fan of champayne.

    Hi...thanks!
I'd like cocktails on arrival, and we are popping over to France to get some sparkling stuff for €4 a bottle which my dad recommends (he lives in France) and paying the £10 a bottle corkage as that's still £10 per bottle cheaper than the venue cheapest prosecco.....I don't really like champagne all that much either!
As for wine on the tables - you guys think 1 glass per person is ok?

We have decided on arrival drinks and then we are going to provide red and white bottles of wine. If we have 60 people, then we will work on 40 bottles of wine as you can get 5 good glasses from each bottle.

Anything else, they'll have to buy themselves.

Welcome drink of pimms, two glasses of wine with the meal and sparkling for the toast. We are thinking about putting a little behind the bar and only letting certain people know, like the bridal party.

The only drinks we are paying for are a drink on arrival. Drink to toast, and half a bottle of wine per person for the meal.

we had drinks on arrival, glass with meal and sparkling for the toast and it went down well with the guests, to be honest I don't think you have to offer them during the meal as most go to the bar after the arrival drink

Our package includes an arrival drink, 1/2 bottle of wine per person and a drink for the toasts. I think that's plenty to be honest, an open bar is recipe for disaster with our friends lol x

i'm having welcome drinks and two bottles of wine and a jug of water on the tables. we only having 50 day guests so we have paid extra for everyone to have 2/3 welcome drinks, instead of paying for toast drinks... not many people really drink champagne and prescco in our families.. so i'm not wasting £20 per bottle that only serves 5 guests for a toast.

We're providing 2 welcome drinks of buck's fizz/sparkling wine, 1/2 bottle of wine or 2 lager or 2 ciders, and a glass of champagne pp plus water on the table, and then putting money behind the bar in the evening.

As a guest I'd probably expect some sort of drink with the meal, and also if we were hanging around during photos, but I wouldn't expect alcohol. I also wouldn't expect anything in the evening.

We have a drinks package included in our venue cost. I think it's an arrival bucks fizz or pimms, glass of wine and a glass to toast with too. I wouldn't pay for any more, guests are already getting a full meal and cake! If they want another drink they can go to the bar. If anything, guests should be buying us drinks ;) x

Our drinks package that is included in the package is

Arrival drink of either bottle beer or glass champagne. 1/2 bottle of wine with the meal and toast drink f champagne anything else they can pay for themselves its expensive enough.

We may allow beer to be purchased with the meal to be added to our bill but not advertising it so people don't take the P

We don't have any drinks packages to choose from, so we are supply our 80 day guests with...

    Buck's Fizz at cocktail hour
Half bottle wine each on table
    Prosecco to toast

That was enough, and is a lot of money. The wines we have chosen are wines they sell at the bar at reasonable prices.
