You don't need a drink for cutting of the cake, we're just going to have the cake cut and let people help themselves....to drinks they pay for at the bar!
Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)
CommentAuthorLittle Kettle
No, not at all. If there's wine on the table then people may use that anyway. The last 2 weddings I went to - that's exactly what we did! Hx
There seems to be plenty there hun, so yes I would cut it out xx
CommentAuthoremz382
Ive never heard of drink for cutting the cake so i definetly wouldnt miss this at a wedding :)
CommentAuthorMagicFairies
i'm only paying for welcome drinks, bottles on table and sparkly for the speeches. i don't think people expect much at all, if your guests are reasonable they will be grateful for what you've already given them, i can't imagine anyone would expect drink for the cake cutting. xxxx
CommentAuthordee
I'm only paying for one welcoming drink for the afternoon guests and then a glass of sparkling wine for the speeches. That's it. I'd cut it out, people will never know, i've never had a drink for the cutting of the cake. Xxx

CommentAuthorKirky
We are planning on giving our guests. 3 glasses of wine for the meal each and a glass of bucks fizz for the speeches. The bar will be open all day so they can buy their own drinks when they arrive, during the canape reception and in the evening.

Well as we are not having a drink package at our wedding (we are having hot chocolates while we have photos and thats it the rest is a cash bar) i wouldnt be offended if i went to a wedding that didnt have a cake drink?? Honestly hun like the girls ive never even heard of it before and feel its just another way for your venue to get even more money out of you.............don't have it sweetie!

Well its november, which will be cold, so when the guests are outside watching us have photo's etc this is a nice way to warm them up :-) Plus its a cheaper option that won't get my guests p****ed too quick which is what I DON'T want! All the wedding's i've been too the alcohol thats surpplied is just left on the side after a mouthful for the toast and i think that's just a waste, so we're having a cash bar so they can get something they do actually like and will drink all off!
The hot chocolate was actually my daughters idea :-) everyone likes hot chocolate, mini marshmellows and cream (can have it with or with out) after all hehehe

After the one winter wedding I've been too I was very glad of the hot drink!!!!! Mulled wine I believe. And if people want alcohol- thats what the bar is for!!
Back to the original question... I don't see why any alcohol needs to be provided at a wedding. I see it as an extra. As long as water is availale with the meal (and for free at a bar).

Of course mini ones and cream too if you like?
I know some ppl dont like them tho (i hate marshmellows but love cream) so we will give the option of with or without either or both!
My mum always drinks water so ive got the venue to put a jug of water on every table for the breakfast!

ok due to everyones response regarding the drinks package i have now decided to change it a bit more my new idea is welcome drink----sparkling wine toast drink----sparkling wine 2 bottles of wine and water on tables unlimited drinks for the kids ive also been thinking due to the fact that our guest list has grown ive been thinking about trying to save some money on the food side of things we are having around 90 guests in the evening including 65 day time guests (10 of which are children ) now we are having our meal at 5.30pm and its a four course meal our buffet is quite substantial and we are serving it with wedding cake as the dessert with tea and coffee if we serve this around nine would we get away with catering for 55/60 people now be honest here cause im not to sure of this myself its just a thought xxxxx
