Okay, as some of you may have seen, I'm getting really fed up of my dressmaker and I'm seriously contemplating looking for another one.

Can anyone recommend a bespoke dressmaker who specialises in tight-lacing corsets as well as wedding dresses? Most of the websites I've seen (and the examples I've looked at at wedding shows) have been pretty naff.

Sorry to hear your having trouble with your dressmaker :( I'm not sure of any other but I'll ask around and get back to you if I hear of anyone. I did speak with a woman at the Dunblane Hydro weding fayre but she wasn't really into corsets, however, I will try and find out who she was and i'll send you her details. xxx

Based in Dunfermline but can easily get to Perth, Edinburgh or Glasgow; even Dundee is doable.

Who have you considered but decided against so far if any? And who is the one you have at the moment?

26th December 2007 - the day I met my special man
8th August 2008 - the day he was mad enough to propose to me
24th July 2010 - the day I felt beautiful inside and out and
became Mrs Dickie for life. xx

I was booked with Joyce Paton but thinking about giving up on her after long being ignored. I also emailed:

    Freya (who ignored my emails)
Spencer Railton (who I might revisit, but I wasn't mad on his website)
Dragonfly Dress Design (who I quite liked but can't see anything quite to my taste on their website)
Ann Matheson (not much detail online)
Audrey Thompson (who didn't bother to reply)
Stephnie Anne (again didn't bother to reply)
Rene Avonya (another who didn't reply)

It's not easy finding a dressmaker who does corsetry well. I've spoken to some dressmakers to have them admit that they would never dare tackle a corset even though they're happy making wedding dresses.

Would this work? hunt out corset makers to make you just the corset part, and go to a well reputed wedding dress maker to make the rest?

I've just spoken to Joyce and she's said she's going to call me back tomorrow to discuss things but admitted that she hadn't even looked at my emails recently. I can understand that things are slipping while her mum's ill but I feel like what should have been a lovely experience has turned into a nightmare.

Sharon - Thanks, Emmeline Couture looks great. I might give them a call.

Faeth - I started out looking for corsetieres who would do wedding dresses too, as the corset is probably the most complicated part, but a lot of the ones I've found in Scotland just don't live up to my usual standards and there aren't that many of them.

My sketches for my dress are quite heavily inspired by Vivienne Westwood and 1950s design. I'm such a pain in the neck.

I'll see what Joyce says tomorrow and then start looking. To be honest, she just doesn't seem to be keen to do my dress which is almost worse than being ignored.

I saw. I didn't want to say on there, but I'm sure I remember someone with a serious complaint about their manufacturing standards and customer services a while back.

I've emailed a couple who've caught my eye, but I'm going to get in touch with more tomorrow after speaking to Joyce. I know she's having a hard time and I'm totally sympathetic, but the way this has been conducted has been really, really unprofessional.

I've now got emails back from two of the three dressmakers I'd contacted and I'm feeling a lot brighter. Both do tight-lacing corsets so I can get everything in one place. One even does veils too.

Thanks Dee, I'm actually meeting with Lorna as well as Emmeline Couture on Sharon's recommendation. She's just emailed me her fabric supplier so I'm drooling over his silks at the moment.
