I'v been looking on ebay at dresses and have found a few custom made ones that I think are just georgeous and at great prices. But I'm just wanting to know if anybody elce has broght theres this way?
I'v noticed that some of the dresses I'v seen are the same as soom designer one's and can then only assume that they are copying them. Is the quality of them just as good as they look in the pictures?

Lots of ladies have had success in buying off there and if you search for china dress there are a few threads about it. I am considering it myself after seeing Rickys dress and recommendation. Just make sure you check out the feedback and pay with paypal regardless where they are in the world. There is also a lady in th UK called Ann who does the same but Ic ant remember her website..oooh put 'Ann' in search box too there was a recent thread about her

I thought about this... The dresses are beautiful but I was just worried they wouldnt suit me then it would be a waste of money. I rather try it on and b pampered by the ladies at the boutiques....

hiya my mum got hers from ebay and 3 bridesmaid dresses all for less the £250 and she was so happy with them all. a few things to remember about the sellers from abroad,
    check feedback
be aware you will be waiting ages to get the dress
if you need a refund or exchange the shipping cost to return the dress will most likely be expensive
the pictures are usually of the designer dress not the copy so it will be slightly different and is normally shown with petticoat

id say do it as you could save a bundle like my mum did

i've brought mine after reading reviews from china. its being made as we speak!! so excited so stunning - the company were so helpful too - i wanted things changed so emailed them and they are making the changes at no extra cost!!i've not seen a dress like this in shops plus i have saved a shed load of cash - plus if its not right you can send it back. although its cheap i am expecting a possible customs invoice to come after it! but hey ho!
fingers crossed it turns up ok and fits ok!!

I do really think this will be my option. Just annoted that I cant find anyone doing the dress that I want. I'v seen them making other dresses by the dame designer but not the one I want though. Think I'll have to keep my eye's open.

If you're going down the ebay route be VERY careful! I've just had a right kerfuffle with my FG dresses from a seller who had excellent feedback.
Another dressmaker who is highly spoken of is Neta (she advertises on here somewhere), she copies designer dresses and charges very little in comparison

Hi Every one. Im in the same boat as Mrs Broady in that i can absolutely in no way afford the retail prices for a dress and am looking at Ebay. Most people I've spoken to about it seem skeptical but I've emailed a few companies and they all seem ok. None of them are able to directly answer my questions, But i think thats a language barrier as much as not having the answers. One idea i did have was looking for a retailers who sells the chineese made dress, but do so in england (making a tidy profit, but that irrelevant) trying them on and then hopefully finding one which looked right. Of course, then bying the dress through ebay rather than from the retailer. That way you save a pretty penny and you know you love the dress before you pay for it.

I bought my dress from ebay and am very happy with it, however mine came from Kent, not from China. I went to bridal shops first and tried all sorts of dresses until I found one that I liked and then just ordered similar one online. I know it's a bit cheeky but I couldn't afford a dress from a shop.

you have ages, so dont worry. you will find it. keep searching! i went to loads of wedding dress shops and tried on loads f dresses. the one i absolutely loves was unfortunately £1350 :-( i cant justify spending that much money on one dress! so i went online and accidently stumbled across a wedding dress site that makes all the designer dresses but they dnt get tagged with the designer lables! i found my dress on there......it was nowhere near £1350.....it was in fact £168 for exactly the same one!!!! bridal shops buy theor dresses cheap, they not only get comissioned for selling them from the designer but they also make a massive profit. you could buy them at trade prices too......its what all the bridal shops do :-) x

Both Neta and Ann though are still from China. Yes they have UK offices over here that will deal with your emails etc but the dresses are still being made from china and then shipped over here for you. It is why they can keep their prices down. I have spoken to both ladies who have confirmed this with me. Both have very good recommendations though so don't let that put you off but it isn't like you can go down to their shops in the UK.

as a previous post said I bought both mine and my flowergirls on the internet and mine are gorgeous. Of course they cannot be identical to the designer ones but as far as i am concerned considering you only wear it for less than a day are of excellent quality. i for one am very pleased with mine. I have said this before as well..do make sure you send VERY Accurate measurements..don't kid yourself and knock inches off..who knows your measurements unless you tell them so as long as it fits who cares what size it is?

My friend has got one and she says hers is lovely but i wont see it till aug! The way i see £120 quid made to measuer or £600 plus alterations over here! No contest!

suppose that's the risk you take...it's a difficult one xxx Sorry yours wasn't a good experience xx There are places in the UK that do them too I have seen them on here..that might be an alternative. I suppose it depends on budget. Hope you have found a dress that is just right now xxxx

I know a good English dress maker who lives up the road from me. She is doing all my bridesmaid dresses and also makes the bridal dresses too for people on budgets. Some of them are stunning. She can do them so cheaply as she only has a small shop in a tiny village so doesn't have big overheads. Like she says it doesn't cost that much for the materials etc so it really is the time you pay for. I'm pleased to be able to support a local company rather than the big designers and it also works out cheaper for me without running the risk of going to china.

I have heard both good and bad, the best thing is to look at their feedback. China does not recognise copyright and so they would be copies of the designer. So long as the feedback is ok you should be fine. One of my friends got a dress from there and it was awful, it had to be finished off but if you looked at the feedback and saw only 96% what did she expect. xx

Oh sam73 thats a really good price. I set a limit for £60 each on my bridesmades. I plan on having 3 then my daughter as a flower girl. So if i ended up reachin my limit on them all that would cost me £240. So how much you paid is sooo much better. Do you still have the name of the seller. :) xx

Hi Marialouise xx that's what I thought, for £68 even if it was absolutely rubbish it wouldn't have broken the bank, luckily mine is stunning, albeit plain, but that is what I wanted, in fact when it arrived it was more beautiful than I imagined it would be. I thought it would just be layers of chiffon but it is proper bridal satin underneath the chiffon and swooshes so elegantly when I walk lol But the real triumph I think are the flowergirl dresses..they are absolutely gorgeous and my granddaughters look so pretty in them.

a friend of mine did it this way and had no problems other than the sash was done in silver and not gold as discussed. Fortunately she found a way around it as hadnt brought too much in the colours so she made it work. I dont think she was happy with the way it was packed though as it was very difficult to iron.
