So I found The Dress last week, and paid the deposit there and then. I seriously love the dress (pics in album), but now I am worried about it. I didn't ask if I could hook it up for the evening (as it has a train, and I won't be able to dance etc with it). Anyway, now I am worried it will look pants, thats if they can hook it up at all. Do all dresses with a train have this capability??!!
Im in a bit of a fluster and also a bit fed up that I didn't ask if she would sell the sample. I found out today its collection is 2 years old, and she may well have sold it to me. I am wobbling that Ive rushed into it (even thought I tried on loads) and got it wrong :(
Does anyone have any advice, or know about the hooking up business? x

I'd say go back to the shop and ask the lady about being able to tie it up and to see if its possible to transfer the deposit towards the sample. I'm sure that your dress will still look lovely with the train or with it shortened - if it can be hooked up then it will have been designed to still look just as amazing.

Thanks both.
Showgirl, I don't know that she would sell the sample really, it was just something that I hadn't queried with her. I don't imagine she would say oh have this one now I have signed a contract saying I'll buy one full price, but you never know I suppose! I am awful at these things though, and wouldn't know what to say :-/
I don't know how they work it, but I imagine she would have offered the sample if she were going to sell it anyway. Although its 2 years old they're obviously still selling it.

mine is being altered in the shop to have a hook up put in as the train is too long for me to dance in too. Its £15 for mine x

At the end of the day the wedding industry is packed with over-inflated prices so there's nothing wrong with being a little cheeky when talking to suppliers - worst case scenario is she says no, but that's absolutely OK because you'll still have your dress and you've lost nothing. If you're really not sure what to say then maybe take someone with you to do the talking - I find Dads are usually good at that kind of thing (I think its thanks to all the used car haggling they did in their youth).

Yeah, you're so right Showgirl. The dress is top end of the budget, and that doesn't include the hoop or alterations, so getting it a bit cheaper would be wonderful. My dad wouldn't be very good at that kind of thing as he is unwell, but my mom is really cheeky and would get involved! haha!

Even if it wouldn't work being bustled they would still be able to put a loop on the inside of the train so that you can put this over your wrist to keep it up when dancing. If you have already signed a contract for a brand new dress stating the price you will pay then I doubt you will get it any cheaper, as legally you have now agreed to pay that amount for the dress. However, you could try and get some accessories thrown in? xxx

I think you're probably right Linzi-jo. I feel like such a wally for rushing in instead of taking my time and playing it cool! I had wanted to try this dress on for a long time, and knew Id love it - and I did. I was blinded!
I am usually quite thrifty too, but this wedding planning business has had my spending all kind of money on random things. They say it brings strange behaviour, an they aren't wrong! :)
