Hi Everyone, I wondered if anybody had any information on where to go to get wedding dresses steamed? Also a rough idea of price would be helpful... My mum is off to pick up my dress today (it's been having alterations) and the seamstress has told my mum it will need steaming as it is creased. I am down to my last £150 in my overdraft and dress steaming isn't something I budgeted for Does anybody know if I may be able to do it myself? I've heard of people hanging dresses in bathrooms and turning the shower on-would this work? Do you think I could go back to the shop I bought it and see if they would do it for me? I've spent £2500 on the dress, I don't want to ruin it!!! I live near Bournemouth/Christchurch/Southampton, if anyone has any good recommendations I'd really appreciate it. Thank you. x Hi Everyone, I wondered if anybody had any information on where to go to get wedding dresses steamed? Also a rough idea of price would be helpful... My local dry cleaner is doing mine. She does wedding dresses all the time and said she'll see whether it needs a steam for £10 or a press for £25.
I have mine hanging from a hook in the ceiling of my mil's spare room (a joiner put the hook up so it will deffo hold it!) and the creases are coming out just by hanging it.

the bathroom thing works but i wouldn't put it in when the shower is on put it in just after you've had it running hot for a while and just have it hung up. With the dress leaving the shop they will have no doubt have steamed it before it left so i doubt they will do it again for you.
Just call any dry cleaners they should be able to do it for you

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will try asking the bridal shop as I found out they hadn't had it steamed before I bought it. If they refuse, I may try the bathroom trick with the shower off! xx
