I'm getting really frustrated with dress shopping, I have found some beautiful dresses but am yet to find the one that gives me that feeling. On most occasions I have taken my MOH with me, as I trust her opinion above all others, however as we both have toddlers and work trying to find time when we are both child free is almost impossible. So I'm considering going dress shopping alone in a few weeks time. It's actually something I've thought about doing from the start as I find shopping stressful at the best of times and even though my MOH has done an amazing job on the few occasions we have gone looking (it's thanks to her that I now know what sort of style suits me) I sometimes feel it's all to much fuss.
Is it weird to go looking for wedding dresses on your own? Has anyone ever been dress shopping alone? Did it take the fun out of trying on dresses? And did you feel you were treated differently by shop staff because you were alone?
    Thank you ladies

I don't think it's weird to go alone at all. Ultimately no one chooses your dress but you so although it's nice to have another opinion it is just that, an opinion. I think if anything the shop staff will be more attentive. I have considered going alone on several occasions. Lets face it picking the dress is a big decision and sometimes a large financial commitment so going alone means you're truely focused. If you find a dress you love then make another appt and take your MOH to show her before you commit.

I went in my own several times and then took my mum to view the one i wanted.
Stuff what orger people think it was nice to go on my own and have just my own thoughts and nobody elses opinions swaying my judgement.

    Have fun. Xx

I am planning on dress shopping by myself because although I love going with my other half when we're shopping for him, I prefer to shop by myself for me.

You could always go by yourself and choose a dress/couple of dresses then if you're not sure, you could put them on hold and when you and your MOH have a free day, you can show her your choice(s).

I went alone the other week, and found the dress! Dragged my MOH to come see it before I bought it and when she started crying, I knew I had been right. Sometimes you have to so you don't worry about anyone else's opinion, it is your dress, just see if they agree. As the others say above, sometimes it's better.

I went on my own - mainly because I have no one to take with me. MOH and Mum both live miles away and SIL to be is doing her GCSE's right now. Thankfully I knew what I wanted and had found the dress that fit my wants when searching on the net, so just had to find a stockist to try it on.

You might find it easy to traipse the shops alone and when you find THE DRESS then arrange to take MOH to see what she thinks?

Thank you ladies I feel a bit less weird about it now. I think I will head up on my own next week. I have to go for an hosp appt in the town where there's a shop I want to have a look in so I may as well find some enjoyment in the day. As you all said if I find one I do like I can always go back! Thank you again x
