Im going over the next couple of weeks! Im so excited but have my heart set on exactly what I want so I hope I find it! Is there any other fussy girls out there who totally changed their mind when in a different dress? I hope i'm more lenient than I think i'll be! Just want a fairytale dress! :)

I think most brides change their minds on their dresses lol. Wedding dresses look so different on the hanger and actually on you, so i'd advise to try on lots of different styles of dresses to make sure you find what you like and what suits you :) I did that when i bought my dress, but i ended up with exactly the sort of dress i thought i'd get...a big princessy one :) have fun dress shopping! xx

The greatest thing you'll ever learn
is just to love and be loved in return

I am so fussy it's unreal. My sister (MOH) said she doesn't know how she's going to cope when we going looking for my dress properly, lol. I've been to try a few dresses on, and I went into the shop knowing in my head what sort of dress I want. The lady in the shop was very helpful and helped me pick a few out. I went down the rails saying, Oh I like that and that... don't like that, definately don't like that. Errrr, that's not me.. all sorts of stufff. Then the lady said, you should just try a few that you don't like on because I'm sure you'll be surprised.

And.... I did try one on that I really didn't like the look on the hanger, and now it's on my list of favourites. I was shocked at how pretty it looked on me yet so ugly on the hanger.

I'm looking at strapless a-line, with a big train and some nice detail of sparkle. The lady said that my frame is so tiny that they don't stock dresses my size to get a proper idea of what it would look like. So she pushed a few pillows down my back to fill it out, I looked like a white turtle! hahaha!!

Good luck finding the one, I can't wait to try more dresses on soon :)

Yes i went in with the idea of A line, princessy, and tried on every style i could see that i liked, mermaid, halter-neck, slim fitting, rouched, princess, everything imaginable just to get an all round idea and it's true what the others have said they look so different on than you would think! Especially when you've been cinched in to within and inch of your life! I see now why everyone loves wedding dresses they are so flattering when you find the one! picked mine on monday! (in my pics if you wanna see) have fun

I went shopping knowing I wanted straps and bought a strapless dress. It is most definitely the one though because it's the only one I liked and I've never worn anything as flattering in all my life!

Lol, LauraP77 - I had that too, lady in shop stuffed so many pillows down my back to try and give me idea of how the dresses would look at the front I looked like I had a huge growth! What shop was it?

It's certainly a surreal experience trying on dresses for the first time.

    I want a big train!

I thought about the practical side, mainly bathroon breaks but I'll do what my sister did, at the reception venue we will just go to the bridal suite and get in and out of the dress each time so noone comes into the bathroom with me.

Lol InDreamland, it's well funny isn't it! The shop had just filled up too, so I walked out and they were aww wow! I didn't quite feel the wow when I could see the massive bulge at the back! It was just a little local bridal shop in my home town of nottingham. I've found the ladies in these little boutiques are a lot more helpful then the ones of those in berkatex bride etc. I was not very happy how they made me feel like I had to buy the one dress I kinda like there and then... and offering me deals. Pressure!

OMG LauraP77 - ditto, they do do the hard sell don't they, whereas the local bridal store that I went to (that stuffed pillows down my back and made me look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame from the side) was so friendly and helpful and not pressurising me at all. I do love the little boutique. I think I'd like to go back there and order the dress but I have seen other dresses that I want to try in 3 of these chain bridal stores before I commit. It's nice as it's small that she locks the shop door and puts a blind across the front so it's completely private, amazing service and great experience, the others won't be like that (Confetti and Lace in Lakeside, Berketex in House of Fraser Oxford Street and Pronovias on Bond Street).

Don't give in to the pressure. Walk away, if you're still thinking about it the next day then go back to order I say.

What's everyone's experiences of different bridal stores and finding the one?

Hi, I have had some bad experiences in bridal shops (have posted about this) but a few days ago I went to alovely little boutique and think I have found 'the one'. It was the wrong colour though (brown and pink) so a bit apprehensive about buying it without seeing it in the right colour (white or ivory) so will be looking at some more dresses next week before I make up my mind. I was also after a princess dress (with tulle skirt). This is a little different but still princessy in style I think but with amazing detail. I wasn't sure what I would feel like when I found 'the one' and didn't believe I'd ever get the feeling but I haven't stopped thinking of the dress since I tried it on and just knew that I loved it (desite the weird colour) so I'm guessing it must be! Good luck with your search, xx.

Wow, hope you are happy with it in ivory/white! Do you have a piccie or style name/number and designer so we can see please? Sorry, just curious, I'm also getting a princessy dress, not yet decided on it yet but as a general style that's defo it.

I am relieve to see Blushingbride2b that you're getting hitched before me and not yet got your dress ordered (I was starting to think I'm running out of time to find the one).

Thanks, I hope so too! I've only seen pictures of it in ivory so if I go for it then taking a small leap of faith. I know what you mean about seeing other people's chioces, I've been pestering everybody especially when I know they wanted a similar style ;)
It's veromia vr6955. The ony pictures that come up are of it in brown/pink and the photos don't do it justice at all (I actually dismissed this dress when I saw it online so just goes to show). It's not full on princess like I originally wanted but I can't get over the details, I love it!! xx

Forgot to say that we actually booked the wedding with less than a year to go so I've had no choice really :( would have liked longer as I'm seriously feeling the pressure to make decisions quickly and I was so worried I would find 'the' dress in time and would have to settle, so I've missed out on it being 'fun' I think, xx.

Ohh wow, just googled it, it is beautiful! I think it will look gorgeous in ivory, I do understand though that until you see it for real you won't know for certain.

Try MadelineIssacJames style Olivia - that is full on princess, it was stunning when I tried it on. My fave though is same designer, style Tara (which my mum, sister and best mate think looks better on me that on the model in the promo pic).

I agree, my sister and mum I think preferred Oliva but loved both, I felt a little silly in Olivia even though it was stunning on, I felt very inch the princess bride, only I also felt a little self conscious in something so big, I'm a little shy of 5'2" and a size 8 and I think I'd feel like it was OTT for me on the day (I think it's the confidence to pull it off all day). Tara is gorgeous!

I also like Georgia from Pronovias in their "You" range. Also Jennifer, Jilguero and Juego.

So many dresses .............can we have two? Or maybe three? ;o)

Do you think lots of dresses on the hanger look hideous then when you put them on you wonder if it's the same dress?

Have fun! My dress is nothing like what I wanted and even now I keep second guessing it but every time I see it or try it on I just know it is the one and all my worries disappear. I thought when people said you just know when it's the one it was a load of rubbish but it isn't you really do feel amazing!
Just enjoy yourself and try on things that might be a bit different, I didn't find my dress until I just randomly picked dresses I liked a little bit of and tried them all on and there it was! :)

Yes just enjoy the experience - I tried all different styles on to see, and decided that strapless A line was the right shape, but tried on lots of different materials and finishes, decided I didn't like taffeta or satin, I wanted elegant but not too sparkly and have now got an organza side swoop A line with a lace bodice and sparkles all over and down the chapel length train! Seriously when you find you'll know it's the one because you'll feel fantastic in it - I didn't like mine on the hanger either and the shop lady suggested it, so I only said I'd try it to be polite - as soon as it was over my head and I saw it in the mirror I knew I felt fantastic in it :-)

It's from the 2010 collection, if you find it and love it then if you're after a size 18 dress (their size, I'm usually a size 14-16) then keep in touch ;-) I choose the mid length dress, I'm 5'2 and was wearing 3.3 inch heels in the pics x

All I can say is try on a few different styles! I went dress shopping with the dress I wanted lodged in my head! When I tried it on I was gutted as it looked awful!!! Tried on a few other styles and was gobsmaked that the one I totally fell in love with was a style I was adamant that I didn't want when I had been searching online and seeing pictures of! It's true what people say, you will know YOUR dress the minute you see it on! Good luck with your search! Xx

Good advice MrsMarr2B - I've so far tried 6 dresses in 1 shop. I had no idea what I wanted but had narrowed it down to a princess silhoutte of varying degrees of puffyness, fluffyness ......... I've got 3 more appointments booked at different bridal store that stock dresses I've seen that look nice on the model.

Thanks for the info bridalmiss - I''ll have to see if I can find a local stockist to try the style on, they may not have it now if it was 2010 collection. I've noticed some stores already launching their 2013 collections. The designers do have crazy sizing don't they, my sister is a size 6-8 and her dress was ordered in the designers size 12! One dress I tried on was a size bigger than my usual dress size, doesn't make a bride feel great about herself lol :(

I've got it in my head that I definitely want sleeves because strapless dresses make me feel like I have to keep holding them up and I've never felt comfortable showing off the tops of my arms (not that they're thnat bad, I just feel self-conscious about armpit fat bleugh) so I don't see why I would wear something like that on the day you want to feel most beautiful! But of course I know that will hugely impinge on my options, and I've promised to try on some things that the shop women suggest as they tend to have an eye for peoples shapes. Guess I'll see how it goes at my first visit in a couple of weeks!! x
