I have just discovered that the shop in Glasgow through which I have bought my dress has ceased trading!!The bridal studio is no more and there are 400 brides without dresses!!I paid for my dress in full in Jan and it was due to be in shop for collection last wkend but didn't hear anything from them and then sods law I hear the place is no more!!I am so angry and upset!HOw could the owber do this to people!she continued taking orders and full payments even last week!!apparently she has not been paying designers so those who are contacting designer direct are having to pay again and then try to claim their money back!!I have emailed and text and still not heard anything back!!!aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Mary, have a look on the SWD website there are a lot of contact details to try and find out some more info. (sorry if this isn't allowed but didn't know how else to show where contact details are).

I heard that the dresses they did have in their "warehouse" are being delivered by courier now, but if this is the case for you (and I hope it is) be wary as some other posters have stated that these "couriers" are asking for £25 when they are arrive at your house. One bride threatened to phone the police and they left the dress with her without any further requests.

Good luck - terrible thing to have happened xxx

Omg, this must be so stressful. Try not to panic though until you have all the facts. There's a high possibility that your dress was ordered and will be delivered. Hope it works out for you. X

Oh no what a horror story!!! I've paid for my dress in full but it's an ex sample so it's already in the shop ready for me to collect. I think I'll go sooner rather than later though as I keep reading stories like this and it's making me paranoid. I hope you get something sorted x x x

That's awful and I think they have some nerve if they were still taking payments last week as they'd have known they were going under for a while! If u don't receive ur dress it's definitely time to take it further...and hopefully like the others said u have wedding insurance then u can claim the cost back x

It's deceitful how she was still taking orders and full payments the week before she went bust! What a joke!
Hope you get it sorted x

That's awful! I feel angry for you! Do you have wedding insurance? Or was the shop part of an approved union type thing that you can register your dress with so that if something like this happens you are covered?

As the others have said - contact your wedding insurance company. If you have receipts, you will be fine :-)
    Really sorry to hear this.

i finally got an email back from her and it stated that my dress is with the designer so to contact them and to go through bank or wedding insurance to get a refund!!!not even an apology!!so even though mine was due to get collected last week it isn't 1 of those in this "warehouse" wherever it is!!!have called my credit card company this morning and so they have started the process but have said there is no guarantee i will get my money back. also tried calling the designer but no answer so will try again on Monday so fingers crossed!this woman has messed so many poor women about-it is disgraceful and not the 1st time she has done this!she had another bridal shop a few yrs back which also went bust in the summer-peak wedding season!!!
my only saving grace is that we are no longer getting married in 5 wks as we should have been-i ended up in hospital in March and had to have emergency surgery so we felt it best to move wedding as we had no idea how long i would be in hospital or take to recover.
feeling mighty unlucky but trying to look on the positive side.

Its really good that you still have 8 months as that's plenty of time to get a new dress and get it altered and every thing :) It's great that you are able to see some positives. Keep your chin up and hope for the best. xx

There was a thread about this last year if I remember - the bride did some detective work, traced the dress back to the warehouse and after them arguing the toss, she picked her dress up and went!

Oh no!!! I feel so terrible for you, everyone told me to go there for my dress but I ended up getting mine from West Kilbride. Can't believe she was still taking orders, makes me so angry!! That seemed like one of the bigger places in Glasgow so just shows.xxx
