Well, on Saturday my fiance and I, along with my best friend & her fiance went to the wedding of a mutual friend of ours.
We were waiting with baited breath to see what her dress would be like as my best friend marries in August this year & me in August next year. The music began & the bride made her entrance, then my friend looked at me with tears in her eyes & said... SHE'S WEARING MY DRESS!! I just didn't know what to say!! We couldn't talk too much about it as her fiance was sat next to her, but she looked so upset.

Since then we've been back to the bridal shop & my best friend has tried her dress on again & I must admit, it looks completely different on her. Me, her other bridesmaid & her mum tried to put her mind at rest, but she's still a little worried. It just made me wonder.. has this happened to anyone else?? & if so how did you deal with it??

Aww what a shame! Never good when someone has the same dress as you, never mind wedding dress! Has she gone off it now? Or will there be many people from that wedding going to hers? x

I think she's more worried about the fact that her fiance's seen the dress she'll be wearing on someone else.
There'll only be about 6-8 people from the other wedding at hers, so I guess that's not too bad.
Up to now she's sticking with the dress as it's the dress of her dreams & she looks absolutely stunning in it!! jealous.com!! lol!

Ach well if that's the case she should wear it... the chances are the wedding dress will just have looked like any other wedding dress to her fiance, unlike us girls who'd remember he'll probably have forgotten about it already so will be a far off distant memory by next year... I know mine wouldnt be able to remember the dresses of any of the weddings we've been to in the past year - he was best man at his friends wedding in June and when we were talking the other day about the brides dress he had to ask what colour it was (blue btw) so I dont think she'll need to worry x

Lol! I said the same. I asked my fiance if he could remember what the dress looked like & he thought it had straps - (it was a strapless dress!! lol!). x x

OMG I would be devastated if that happened to me. I'm sure the people who attended this wedding and will be at your friends, won't even realise it's the same dress.

i can understand why she is upset. i think every b2b would be. was it def the dress?

it is true that the same dress does look different on each person and most people wont even notice. like you said there is only about 8 people that will see it. i take it the bride will be at your friends wedding?

she will have a differnet veil and different tiara and everything so it will look different. but can she not ask the shop to alter it slightly for exampe for sparkle or a hoop underneath to make it bigger or something along those lines?x

Men are predictably forgetful when it comes to what women wear so im sure he wont even notice!Plus if it looks different on her then i dont suspect many others would notice either. Im sure it will be fine xx

men honestly would not remember! So I wouldnt be too worried.

I have to admit though if it did happen to me, i would be upset at first - its only natural.

Mrs Barker to be - yeah.. it was definitely the same dress.

the bride will be at my friends wedding... but my friend has a full length veil whereas the bride had a short veil which she took off just after the ceremony, so she will look different. Don't think she's too keen on having the dress customised. x x x

Tell her not to worry, he wont remember and like others have said no 2 brides look the same in the same dress. If the other bride says something she should just say "we obviously both have excellent taste"

I agree that men will never remember that sort of detail for more than 5 minutes, but can completely understand how upset she must have been! I would be pretty sad if someone else had mine. It turned out that I did actually try one on that my friend is having - as soon as I found out it was struck off the list pretty quickly! x

thats a shame, but are they likely to have the same guests? and at least theres a gap between the weddings and like you said it looks totally diff on her so noone is likely to notice anyway.if she likes the dress she should nt let it bother her.x

I think the only person who would notice that it's the same dress is the bride who had it too. For guests, unless the dress is something really outstanding (think Gypsy Weddings type outstanding) they all tend to blur into 1. As for the H2B, well he thought it had straps.......says everything.
She's bound to be a bit upset at first but I'm sure she'll get over it

I think the only one that would notice would be the bride that just got married. Most people look and see white dress and that is that and no one will sit and think oooo so and so wore that. Just goes to show they both have good taste for them to both pick the same dress out. Maybe she should have a word with her friend and just let her know that she had already ordered that dress and could she not mention it to anyone at the wedding.
