Just a quick query... Are your dresses being altered for the evening so you can dance? Like a hoop to put your hand through? Just sitting here thinking about the wedding and realised that nothing has been said abotu this during all of my fittings.... Is it just done as standard?!

I believe that most dresses that have a train should have a means to "bustle" them. This could be straps you tie or a small string hook that can be hung over the last button at the back of the dress. My dress is like that. Ask the shop if your dress comes ready to bustle. If not you may have to ask your seamstress to add something.

My dress has a little loop on the underside so I can slip my wrist through it and hold it up.

My dress had a wrist strap, but they offered me a bustle (button and loop) with my alterations.
My train was quite heavy and the bustle did come undone, but I'm glad I had it.

They fitted a bustle to mine Lindsey just a loop and a long piece under the train to tie to the loop. Brought the train up just enough to stop OH treading on the train, which he did numerous times during the day lol xx
I had a bustle fitted. The lady showed my mum how to bustle it up so she can do so in the evening. I think it's very common to do this however probably isn't done as standard as you'd have to agree to the charge xx

I will be having both a bustle and loop fitted to mine. Will also be packing white safety pins and thread and a needle to fix it as my train is very heavy so I am expecting the bustle to break and the loop will most likely not hold it up enough.

Thanks ladies - I've contacted the bridal shop to see what they can do. I hadn't even thought about this until last night! Beginning to fret there are other things I've also forgotten!

I am sure you will be fine Lindsey, in the grand scheme of things, it's only a small part, as long as you have the big things, nothing else can spoil the day x

I'm sure it won't be a problem at all Lindsey - I doubt it takes very long to do, it's very simple xx

Mine had a button and loop to bustle it, which I did after the wedding breakfast. Emily's tip about taking needle and thread is a very good one, My dress got stood on 3 times at the night do and the loop snapped and the button got pulled off! Luckily my friend managed to bustle it back up for me to make it last the night lol xx

I havent bought my dress yet but ive already decided ill be changing half way through. As lovely as the dress will be i want to dance and eat without worrying about ruining it or it being too heavy. Plus more of an excuse to maximise on photos

Anika, I'm doing the same. I love the 1950's so in the evening I will be changing into a 1950's white and lace dress from the shop I get all my jive dresses from
