My friend is getting married and she told our friends at my sons birthday party ,they were like why dont you have a double wedding, of course me and my big mouth shouted NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO.

She is my best friend but i just think weddings are suppose to be all about the bride and groom not the BRIDES AND GROOMS.

My friend agreed but i was thinking the way i said nnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooo may have offended her. I plan on talking to her but i was wondering whats everyone else opinion on such weddings are.

If it was a two couples that were really close, like two sisters marrying two friends, maybe.

But it would need to be a really close relationship!

This family at the end of my street did that, The dad got remarried, and they had a double wedding with his Daughter and her Hubby!! I found it a little odd! But I suppose if you're happy to do it, then it halves the cost! :P x

it dont halve the cost at all, because i would have to spend the same amount of money. As theri family would have to be invited so we would have to find another venue. Hell no, and plus she is suppose to be my maid of honour and I am hers.

Ok i hope this doesnt cause offence but i think a double wedding seems tacky, plus its only gonna cause arguements with themes and invites and seating and blah blah blah, i mean could you imagine the top table? haha

lol, I mean if it was someone's intension from the start! Like the family at the end of my street, they would invite most of the same people.. As they are family!
I'm not saying you do it.. you're obviously against it.. have your day for you!!
I wouldn't do it, no way in he ll!!

Your wedding should be your wedding unless you are so close that you would agree on everything and be inviting the exact same people. Its difficult enough pleasing yourself when your planning without double mothers, aunts MIL's, bridesmaids etc etc etc but if you are getting married around the same time why not see how she feels about a double hen night or go try dresses together and go to wedding fairs together, you can have twice as much fun with 2 weddings to look forward to. Your friend was probably thinking NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, you probably just said it first, if your anything like me.....gob first brain following shortly behind she'll know you weren't being mean.

I've seen twins doing it and very very close sisters but beyond that I couldn't imagine a double wedding going well. It would be confusing for the guests and unless you are planning on being close to the other couple for the rest of your life you run the risk that you look back at your wedding photos with resentment someday.

stacey-gracie i know where you are coming from they do tend to be tacke, not my sort of thing. i could never do it but just thought i would see other peoples opinion. I spoke to my friend she think it a nooooooooooooo think as well.
I think because we are so close people thought we would do something like that. No way, it the one day attention will be on us indivdually, everyone already think we are twins lol, we told boys at college this, up until now they see me and ask where is my twin. sometimes im like what the hell are they on about then i remember.lol. boys are so silly

I went to a triple wedding in Ireland a few years ago - 3 sisters got married. It was a fantastic wedding and even made the Irish Post. They had 650 at the daytime reception and there were 35 people at the top table. Not something I'd like myself especially with my sister!
