    Hi Ladies...

Earlier on in the year me and my other half got an application for Don't Tell The Bride... We filled it out but didn't send it because I chickened out (it was for the series that has just finished).

I got home from work today and i had a text message on my phone. As i was about to read it my stepmum rang and asked me if i had seen our local paper, it was asking for people from our area to apply for the next series of the show.
After I got off the phone from her i checked my text and the text was off one of my oldest friends asking me if i had seen the local paper for the exact same reason....

I spoke to my other half and he reckons we should apply for the next series...

What's your views on this?? Should we do it??
    I'm scared, hahahahaha!!!

    xxxx

Seriously think about it.... The couple that were on it recently wrote a blog and he said they focus on what looks good on tv rather than your wedding so groom was over ruled by producers on some ideas. I will dig blog out for you. Xxx

If you want to do it ! Go for it! Just have a chat with your hubby first and tell him what you would absolutely hate - but then let him do it! It'll certainly take the stress out of it and it'll save you a fortune! Plus, in every episode i've ever seen not matter how much we are led to belive the bride is going to hate it - it all works out fine in the end!

I'd be really interested to read that blog milz - would you post it on my wall for me if you find it? Thanks. xx

I would do it in a heart beat. I suppose it depends on how important all the 'weddingy'stuff is to you.

If you would much rather be married and arent too bothered about how you get there then what have you got to loose.

But if all of that is really important to you and you think you may be missing out if h2b did the planning then stay clear.

    Xx

Thanks girls... Well i've taken the first step and got the application form... The other half has said he wants to do it...
He knows what I like and what I don't like... Just the thought of him picking the dress makes me feel a bit sick, haha.

The next step is filling the application out... I'll keep you updated :-)

Ask yourself what kind of person you are. Do you need a wedding day done perfectly and just the way you've dreamed since a little girl? Because if so, you then need to ask yourself how will you feel if you get none of it. The girls on that show always seem confident in their grooms and think they will get something they want, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.

Some girls on the show seem so happy that their guy has worked so hard and have a great day despite it being the opposite to what they originally said they wanted. If you can appreciate the day even if the colour scheme is the worst ever, and you have to jump out of a plane or something, then it's the show for you. You'll have a blast and save money. But if you might cry because you dreamed of something you didn't get, then think hard. Regretting your wedding day is something you'll have to live with. It's a personal choice for you.

I am not so easy going. My H2B would have me in some £50 dress so he could arrive in a helicopter or something silly! Haha

I applied about a year ago, got a telephone interview with producer asking questions to me and h2b there are four rounds to the interviews the application, the telephone call, the metting in london (i think) and then they visit your house so lengthy process, i would do it ovious lol just thinking i could have been married months ago and wouldnt of have to worry about money etc and saved pretty much everything for the last 2 years!! I just thought at the end of the day i just want to be married and atleast it would be aa wedding to remember even if it wasnt my perfect planned day... xx

But if you are that relaxed about it then go for it, and let us know when it airs because I love that show! Have a positive attitude, you will get picked!

Sometimes your OH knows you alot better than you might think and will do things that are 'outside the box' that you never thought of. I say go 4 it and enjoy it. At the end of the day you 2 will be married and thats what counts. He would do it to make you proud.

Just be careful because if they think you might have discussed anything before, the groom isn't allowed to do it. So basically when you're telling them about your perfect wedding they'll make him change plans if it matches too much!

I heard the producers have almost split some of the couples up because they tell the groom one thing and tell the bride something else and as someone else said a lot of decisions are not made by the groom, they are made by producers because its better telly.

I wouldn't do it and only because of the above reasons and the fact that I know my parents wouldn't want it and neither would my fiance's father, however I do love watching it lol.

I personally wouldn't go on it; to me, it would cheapen our marriage somehow. We're being VERY particular about our guest list, and don't want people there we don't know and don't care about; I would hate to have to deal with producers and film crews in the run up and on the day itself, and would hate the whole sentiment behind it. I would seriously rather have a registry office wedding with just the two of us if that was the choice we had.

I appreciate that I'm probably in the minority; but that's how I feel. And I think if you do apply, you need to be thinking about more than just 'losing control'; because for me, that really would not be a concern. Think how you'd feel being followed around by a camera, and having the most important and personal day of your life filmed and televised. If you're OK with it, then go for it :-)

I wouldn't do it myself as so much in the last few series have been set up for tv I wonder how much of the day either of the couple enjoyed.
Also it appears that you have to be a little different to get on the show. Can't really say any from the last set of shows were chosen because they wanted "normal" weddings.
I wouldn't like to be filmed and on tv. And I most certainly wouldn't like to be split from H2B for three weeks either.
But each to their own, if you want to do and it sounds like your H2B is up for it then whats the harm in doing it.
    Good luck.

Personally, as much as we joked about applying for it, we couldnt do it, it would ruin our day becuase we hate being centre of attention - a TV programme would make that so much worse!!

I will post the link to the blog on my wall if anyone wants to read it but definitely shows a different light on the show....

I completely agree with Barbie86. Not having the right dress or a bad hen do or the wrong venue wouldn't bother me as long as i married h2b but the film crew intruding on my personal day and being in the way would irritate me and make it feel like a TV show and not my wedding.

I don't think it tells us much that we don't already know, though I have to say I didn't see that particular wedding. I would love it however if the couple from the famous Vegas wedding were to give their behind the scenes take on everything lol

Thanks Millz, an interesting read. Now that I've read his opinion I think i've changed my opinion and would be less likeyl to encourage someone to go on. Is it me or does anyone else think the programme has really changed since it first began?

I remember when it first started it was much more ordinary weddings and the drama was just things like "oh my god he picked an ugly dress" or "I've never have picked that digusting colour" or they'd just have a strange band or something more run of the mill. Now it just seems they want the most bizarre weddings and from that account they are only interested in the tv aspect. I totally understand it's a tv show but it's a little sad that the guy on that blog said he they didn't really tell him to start with how much control the production team would have - it sounds like he really struggled to get what he wanted which seems a little bit mean of the tv crew!

I guess it was kinda obvious that it would be like what the blog described but i was suprised to hear he had to check with them before he could even go and look at things! That seems a bit much!

Think i've changed my mind about thinking it sounds fun. Although I guess it depends on the individual and how strong a character you are to be able to stand up for yourself.

I'd be really interested to read more "behind the scenes" from the show, i'm going to see if I can find any so will be sure to post if I find some. x

that's sad that the man doesn't get to decide, i love the idea that the women never quite trust the man and he has some lovely ideas to make the day special. I would only do it if you man will walk away if he doesn't get what he wants.
personally I'm not too bothered about how exactly the day goes but that I get my man and its fun
