Right, I know that 13months seems quite a while a way, but £5k of what we was wanting to use is now longer an option (it was money that was left to me in a will that my parents spent without me knowing), leaving us with below minimum wages to use for our wedding starting as of now, and it has been suggested that instead of sorting out the venue now, to get everything else sorted first (the dresses, rings, cake etc), and what ever we have left in January next year is what we use as the venue. (We've had our heart set on an exact date since the day he proposed and we don't want to change it). Has anybody else had a similar issue and tried doing it this way? xoxox

Haven't had this issue but you may get it cheaper but you also may not get your exact date x

That's what we thought, but luckily (in a strange way), our date lands on a Monday, as we want it to be March 23rd next year, and I've been told it's not a very popular day for weddings? xoxox

It really depends on the venue with days of the week. Our date is a Monday in April next year and was the last Monday available! Our venue has everyday except over Christmas booked for next year and every weekend in 2016 is gone! If you budget and save money on things like dresses it is doable! X

Personally I would find out what the venue's policy is regarding postponing and then get the venue booked, you can have everything ready for a wedding, but without somewhere to actually have it you won't be able to get married! Plus, even if the venue has the date free there is no certainty that there will be registrar free to marry you that day, so that needs to be booked too. It may mean that you have to compromise on decoration, food, flowers, dresses etc but at least you will be married, and that is the reason you are having a wedding in the first place xxx

I would book the venue first. Everything else can be compromised, but the venue may not be available anymore. Even with a Monday, it may get booked.

I agree, i think the venue is important as without it there's no point in getting everything else...no venue, no wedding?!

Yikes! That's quite a significant dent in anyone's budget!
But registrar and venue is the biggest piece of the puzzle - nothing else is really 'necessary' when you think about it.
Is there a way that you can book a registry office service on your date, but be flexible as to when you have your 'wedding celebration' with family and friends? A registrar in a venue may set you back £350, whereas it can be £40 in registry office.
That way, you have your date you wanted and a chance of bagging a last minute deal for a venue for everyone to celebrate

Why not do a dttb? Save up all your money let people know roughly when your wedding will be then do it all in a month! Ok maybe not your dress! But you could easily do everything else in a month lol
It's hard to book things without a venue tbh everything I've done they've asked for a venue xx

its completely your choice hunny - but i would be be nervous that if u leave it that late that you wont be able to find a registrar to marry u but doing it this way you should be able to get a venue at a better price good luck xx
