I'v been tryin to come up with something a bit unique for my wedding favors, but also trying to keep cost's down. But i'v not had much look. I thought the other day about just making some biscuite in the shape of hearts and wedding bells and putting some white icing on the bells and on the hearts the theam coulour. Then I was going to make some nice little baskets out of card to put them in. What are you thought of that idea?
CommentAuthorlinzi
people will love it! we are making our own sweeties too, going to give everyone a little box filled with homemade fudge, tablet, french fancy, coconut ice, truffles etc etc.

I just suggested that to someone else but minus the basket, hadn't thought of that! You can even get cookie cutters in the shape of a wedding dress or grooms suit to ice as you please, and you could just wrap them in floristry cellophane, tied with nice ribbon and done, cheap but pretty! :)

that sounds lovely, i don't think i could as i will be running about to much to make any so my mum works at a drinks factory, and has got me mini whisky bottles for the guys, and i was thinking on buying keyring or something for the ladies.and the traditional favours but with chocolates instead of sugar almonds for the kids, just so they dont feel left out..
CommentAuthorlou_alex2000
why dont you make the heart shape cookies put some thin roll out icing on top and pipe some small dots round the edges and if ya handy painting names get some food powders and add abit of vodka to it and write the names on the icing. then there double up as place cards too.
CommentAuthorlinzi
get "Cookbook for girls". by DK cookery. You can pick it up 2nd hand for £5 on amazon. Its amazing!!! it not only shows you how to make place cards, favour boxes and personalised napkins, but it has VERY easy to follow recipes for: Ultimate fudge coconut ice chocolate truffles peppermint creams marshmallow squares chocolate and raspberry brownies cupcakes mini muffins Banocolate cookies caramel shortbread Fondant fancies and cake cake cake!!!
and loads of other things. Its kinda aimed at teenage girls, which is what makes it SO easy to follow. its a fab book.

CommentAuthorlinzi
I made up a big batch of tablet, and total cost was about £2!! made about 80 bite sized pieces. We have decided to drop our alcohol favours and get British Heart Foundation ones, so are making everyone a wee box of sweeties too! (and might even have enough to make "take away" bags for the night guests too!

im thinking of makin heart shaped shortbread biscuits with icing and names so there double up as place cards. there do look really cute.
CommentAuthorLedZepLover
Love these ideas, think they all sound great. We should be having miniatures of Jack Daniels and Southern Comfort, jack for the boys (as this is h2b's fav drink) and girls are having southern comfort as that is my fav drink. We are getting some tags to go around the bottles and having a little saying on them...haven't thought that far yet! I know not everyone will like whiskey but for those that do it's a free drink and they can keep the bottle as a little momento!
CommentAuthorpanther_87k
Suzie bear, ive got a simple recipe for marshmallows if you want to have a go at making them yourself, would probably work out even cheaper!
