I am in the process of getting my save the date cards sorted, do you send them to people who you are inviting to the evening only? or do they just get the invite when the time comes to send them!

I would just send them to day guests otherwise you evening guests may think they are coming for the full day xx

I sent them to the day guests only not the evening ones as they will assume they are getting a day invite

I'm not sending any save the dates. To me its just a waste of money as your invites should be enough to cover it anyway.
I only sent mine to the day people. I'm glad I did though, as a few people have been invited to events on the day, but had luckily already booked out the day for my wedding.

We sent Save the date cards as our wedding is on a friday of the aug bank hol w/end A time where many may of been on holiday Luckily, due to sending them, people have now rearranged holidays etc to spend the day with us
We only sent to day guests though as unless you clearly state "Evening invite to follow" people may think they will receive a day invite

You could get 2 types, one for day and one for night guests. I have come across a couple of sites that do this :)

I sent them to all guests and I would recommend it if you have a lot of people you want to come to the night do but for whatever reason can't go to the day. I was limited with day numbers so had to cut off a few friends so we would have loved to have been there for the whole day so wanted to make sure they were there for the night so wanted to give them as much notice as possible.
I like the idea from Natalie86 of having 2 separate ones if you think it may cause offence if they get one but then an invite for evening only.

I am doing 'save the date's' for the day guests and 'save the evening' for the evening guests. I think that makes it pretty clear what part they will be invited to! xxx

We're sending them to both, because there are a few night guests we'd like to accommodate during the day that we can't due to number restrictions, plus my work colleagues need about 9 months notice as we book our holidays for the whole year in December, and our wedding is in August. Because our wedding is a Saturday in August we want to be safe rather than sorry.
But, we'll make it clear that it's for the evening only eg 'save the date for the evening reception of..'

Thank you to everyone! it always helps having people to ask! Day guest it is then..... We are making all our own StD, wedding invites etc so cost is not an issue for me but i can see how it would be for some people! We are giving a years notice on our wedding as we are sending StD cards with our xmas cards as we are having an xmas wedding, plus it saves on stamps too!

I ordered some STD's free from Vista, and never sent them out!! I think I would just send them out to day guests like others have said.. x

I sent my Save the date cards to everyone that i am inviting as we have got a few evening guest coming from different places and because were getting married in a zoo they can go round the park before coming to the reception.
This was our choice and everyone is different

Unless you send save the day and save the night like has been said before I would only send to day guests as evening guests might think they are coming all day. We didn't bother with them x x
