I am planning to hand mine out with Xmas cards, mainly this early as we are getting married on a bank holiday weekend. I still need to get addresses for the ones I know I will not see this year! I think it is a good idea if it is in summer holidays or ona a bank holiday as people wont book a holiday in advance.

Completely up to you as know some do not do them because of the additional cost

    xx

we werent going to send save the dates but we are now, as like mrsfield2b we have found such good prices and once we have booked the venue in december we will be sending them out to those who are unaware about our wedding (mainly daves family as ive not met some of them in the whole 2 n half years we been together so far)
Yet everybody else knows the date as i have told people which one we want. so they know its round about there.

    :D

    xx

I think save the dates are good if you have guests that have to be book time off work well in advance, travelling a good distance so need to find accomodation or if you are marrying abroad and guests need to book flights/accomodation. xx

I didn't bother with save the dates, I just sent out my invites 6 months before (as I had the majority of people travelling a long way). I did do a private event on FB to tell those guest who were on there what the date was ahead of the invites going out....

I sent out Save the dates about seven/ eight months before our wedding day and have found that it has really confused people?! People think they are invitations despite the fact that obviously we put on further details to follow. I don't know if I'd bother again actually. Hopefully going to get on with posting the 'proper' invites next week!!

We'll be sending ours out soon, personally i think they're a great idea as it gives people a constant reminder of when we're getting married!! But we're only having a small wedding so everyone should know anyway!
