Do you have to have a MOH?

I am having two bridesmaids and a flower girl but I was planning on having them just as bridesmaids and no MOH. It is my understanding that the MOH is the one that helps with planning and arranges the hen party etc. But it will be my mum who will mainly be helping me with organising and planning everything. And my mum and aunt have said they will be organising my hen do.

Is it weird not to have a MOH?

I don't think you have to have one if you're happy with your choice. Normally the moh is also the person that knows you inside out too, sort of like the female version of your hubby x

Thats definitely my mum then. Maybe I can give her a promotion to include MOH to MOTB :)
She knows my likes and dislikes so has been very helpful so far.
Think it'll be a joint effort from different family members, but just wasn't sure if you had to have one.

You don't have to have one. When I got engaged I originally wanted my sister as MOH, older niece (will be 13) and youngest will be 2 as flower girl. Since then, there has been a massive family drama and now my mam & stepdad, sister, brother in law and 2 said nieces aren't coming to my wedding. So instead, I now have 2 BMs, a friend from school, and a friend from life after school. I didn't think there was much point having a MOH between 2 BMs anyway, but even still I wouldn't like to choose.

My oh sister is being my chief BM as we are really close and I want her to sign the register but my mum is planning my hen night and helping with the wedding plans. My chief BM is my go to girl if I need a rant about anything wedding related and she has taken to do with some planning but also has her own life so don't want to bombard her lol. My sister is my other BM but lives over an hours drive away so she's not as involved but I don't mind as she'll be there for me on the day. As long as you know who is signing your register (which doesn't even have to be a BM) they can share the duties on the day :)

I think it's lovely your mum and aunt are doing so much.

I had my sister (I was hers) but we're really close. My other adult bridesmaid was my best mate and helped out a lot too but my sister did much more. Both were fantastic and I don't think we'd have had the wedding day that we did without their help or without the support from my parents and FIL.

I've got 2 adult BMs, but not having a MOH. I've done all of the planning and organising myself, even down to arranging my own hen do! (however 2 of my friends are doing all the silly bits, as I've just arranged date and time!)
if it's what you want, go for it!!! xx

I have two MOHs, because I know they work well together. You don't need one at all, as long as everything gets done.

You don't have to have one.

I have my close friend and eldest niece so i'm going to give one the title of MOH and one Chief Bridesmaid, so none of them feel left and let them share duties.

I'm not having one either, just have two adult bridesmaids who I wouldn't want to choose between.... I think it's a good idea to have a maid of honour if you have loads of bridesmaids, but you don't need to have one.

My best friend who is very local is being my chief bridesmaid as she will keep everything under control! I thought maid of honour was an American-ism.

I'm not having a MOH. I have 4 adult BMs and that's it. 2 of the BMs are OH's sisters (who I'm close with) and the other 2 are good friends and there was no way I was going to pick between them.

Beginning to wish I wasn't having a MOH now, been to see one of my bridesmaids this afternoon and realised that she thinks she should be my MOH as she's the eldest out of the three! Didn't realise it was a rule lol! xx

My moh originally said that she thought she couldn't be it as she wasn't married but my other bm is and apparently moh is suppose to be married. I was like I've never heard that and I will have whoever I wish, its my choice not traditions!

She is thinking MOH means Matron of Honour who is married Maid of Honour is unmarried. So yes she can be Maid of Honour just not Matron... (admit it, right now you have OOOoooerr Matron in your head hehe)

And your right, hell with tradition do what you want!

As the girls are all saying, I don't think its weird, its your wedding at the end of the day. For me I always knew who my MOH would be, my best friend since i was 4, I have loads of amazing female friends but I don't think I'd be able to pick one if it didn't come to me naturally!

    Haha... You're welcome ladies ;-)

In all seriousness though (serious face) I never knew about it either until I was a BM at my dad's wedding and my step sisters were both MOHs one was Matron as she was married with kids and the other was Maid as she was still single.
