H2B has asked this evening if he needs a best man? he doesn't have any close friends nearby and the only person we can think of who may be able to do it is his cousin, but they're not that close.

Have other couples not bothered with a best man? what would we do with the rings if we didn't have one?

Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

my h2b chose his brother in law to be best man ... after me going on at him for ages... he has a best mate well kind of .... but his best mate asked me out when me and h2b were being secrative and slagged off my h2b to me ... well me drunk told h2b what so called best mate had said ... and when we came out that we were seeing each other it was a bit of a situation.... lets just say they have only just started speaking!!

    what about his dad??

how about a ring bearer but realistically he could just have them in his pocket as lemlau said. I am more concerned h2b will have one as a token gesture just because he is supposed to!

Ladies you have just helped out my H2b millions :) My H2B had a bit of a to do with his so called best friend and he was in a bit of a tizzy about who to ask to be his best man. I suggested your idea of asking his Dad and he is over the moon. Neil's Dad is very ill at the minute and giving him this role would give him something to look forward to :) xxx

My H2B isn't having a best man as he hasn't got anyone who he feels is suitable for the job, therefore our 7 year old son will be standing beside him and holding the rings. Xx

Can't wait to become Mrs Hardwicke. . .

there are a few options for grooms...

    1. Best man
    2. Ring bearer
    3. Best girl
    4. Carry them in pocket (not suggested as best person has alot to do.... ie last minute payments, tips, and also if groom starts paniking & forgets rings then what?)
    5. MOH could hold rings?
    6. MOG
    7. FOG
    8. Usher

My uncles had my dad as his best man. But if there is no one he can think of doing it, you could have a page boy to carry the rings.

H2B'S brother was meant to be his best man, he dropped out about 7 weeks ago now and H2B does not want anyone else to be best man. So his organised his own stag do, one of the usher's are gonna travel with him to the church and look after the rings and I am going to do a speech for him. So no, you dont have to have one hun x

wow sam that is brave! I am useless at speaking now (even tho I used to be a lecturer) and will probably just blub through the whole thing anyway. At least you wont have to listen to best man droning on about his relationship with the groom! ha ha
