Ok I've stayed pretty calm up till now. But I get married Friday 21st February.

    ARGH!

    Starting to get very nervous!

I have been giving thought to saying something at the wedding. I would like to tell my man how much support he has given me, tell him how much I appreciate him, and explain how much he means to me. However..... I don't think I will get through it without crying.

What does everyone else think. Has anyone else done it?

I was thinking of it... I think it would be nice, but I don't think I will plan anything. If I do say something it will be improvised.

My OH is from Portugal, therefore half of our guests will be Portuguese and some don't speak English. I'm considering doing a small speech in Portuguese for the sake of his family but like you ladies said, I'm not planning anything. If I feel like it on the day, I will. But I'm not putting myself under pressure! I do think it's a lovely idea though, Dawn. You should go for it!

I'm going to do it too! My dad isn't going to be doing a speech, so I am kinda going in his place and doing a speech for him. I think its nice for us to do a speech too seeing as the groom does one for his new wife! x

I wanted to say personal thanks to my uni girls, as I got married at the start of my 3rd year, and the 2nd year was clearly the worst ever, and if it was not for them I don't think I would have got through it. I managed to make one of them burst into tears because of it though!!!

I'm not speaking, as I will only worry more than necessary, and the three speeches that we do have will all be fantastic. I did go to one wedding where the bride spoke, and did a far better job than her new husband.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I don't think any of our 3 speeches will be fantastic but I reckon my mum will help my dad and mil2b will help h2bs brother who is best man
I might try to help h2b lol
It's going to be quite informal so I'm not too fussed to be honest x

Thanks ladies. I think I might prepare something to say, and if I feel up to it I can go for it, but no pressure if I crumble!

I really want to say a few bits but i think i'll end up thanking everyone individually and start going on and on lol!
I think i will say a few bits and maybe give out personal gifts like the ones to the mums and stuff, just because i think the more personal things should come from the person it's personal to :)

I am going to do a thank you speech to my guests, with a little I love my new husband speech.
But I am planning on writing a letter to H2B to read in the morning when he wakes up. That way, I can cry while writing it and he can cry while reading it.

Ok I've done a first draft of what I want to say. Thoughts?

Most relationships start exciting and easy. People meet and gradually get to know each other, revealing the best parts of themselves first, and the rest comes later. Then as the years go by life begins to test their strength with difficulties, and the strong ones survive.

But for whatever reason, ours didn't follow the usual plan. We met during tumultuous times in both our lives, and we seemed to draw strength from each other for the gathering storms. I could never have known what we would face. Our lives got turned upside down and shaken about for good measure.

But through every little bit, you stood strong. You were always there for me, and you are a rock. Whilst facing your own upheaval and uncertainty, you stood by me whilst I faced surgery. Finding time to help me get round the every day jobs I couldn't do.

But life didn't stop there. One by one the challenges came. A broken ankle, and you were there. A brother on life support and critically ill, and you were there. A crisis of confidence, and you were there. Another sick brother, followed by a donor kidney operation, and you were there, but this time not just for me, for the whole family. The list could really go on.

I will never know how you do it. But I am in awe of it. You have an unending strength and you give it so freely. And yet I gave you multiple outs. Plenty of chances to walk away guilt free, safe in the knowledge that I wouldn't blame you. But you chose to love me instead, and you asked me to be your wife.

In gratitude, I offer you all that I am. And I make you a promise here today. I will always be there for you. I will be your rock. I love you.
