We are getting wed at our hotel at 4pm, having an hour of photos n bucks fizz :-) then speeches etc and an evening buffet coming out between 6.30pm and 7pm... I just cant make my mind up whether to have a table plan or not? I keep thinking yes because it'll save a lot of messing around when we are getting ready for the speeches, but then again no because people arent going to be sat down too long as we're not having a sit down meal!
    What do you think?

We're doing something similar where people aren't getting a table served sit down meal - but there are certain groups of guests we want to sit together during the speeches as we think they'd get on so we're doing a table plan but not individual place names - but technically we don't need to even do the table plan really!

yeah our wedding co-ordinator said we didnt need one but we have some people coming that simply hate each other (mine and h2bs friends who used to date and then split up) so I'm wondering whether it'd be a better idea to have one? just hoping someone will tell me what to do i think lol! im useless at making decisions lol xx

Well our plan will be more a list of names per table, then when they get to their table they can sit next to whoever they like - I went to a cousin's wedding earlier this year though, and instead of a table plan, she'd printed all the place names and laid them on a table in table groups, then people took their name, found their table and claimed their seat! Cost wise though printing the big table list would be cheaper than printing all the individual cards :-)

We did almost the same, but we did do a table plan for the speeches so that there wouldn't be any arguments or spaces and it wouldn't take forever! xx

For all the people involved in speeches you could do a table plan but only a small one

I'd go for a list of names on each table and then let them seat themselves on that table.
That way you can decide who sits where to avoid conflict but it's still informal.
