    Hey Guys,

With the sort of dress I think I want I need my hair up as my hair is pretty long and I don't want anything covering the back of my dress up, I'm not having a veil either.. Plus it will be July and (hopefully) boiling hot and my hair does not cope well with heat when its down !

I'm not sure whether to get my ears pierced for the wedding ? I don't know why but I think they might balance out my hair being up and the big train I plan to have.. My mum thinks it would be nice to be able to wear nice sparkly earrings too... I have flat normal sized ears so won't be drawing attention to any Dumbo ears with earrings lol..

Ahhh don't know if I'm making any sense :-/
If anyone understands me... Lol.. What do you think ?

    xxx

*EDIT* I have decided that yes, I am getting my ears pierced, but no, it isn't just for the wedding.. I have wanted them done for a while now... But saying it's 'for the wedding' to myself might make me man up a bit haha !

It does thank you Natasha :-) It sounds really stupid but I can't think of anyway else to say it, that I don't want my neck area to look bare and I think sparkly, dangly earrings would look fill it up.. Not like to my shoulders dangly, just subtle but pretty.. xxx

There are some lovely clip ons that you can get now days if you have reservations of getting them peirced but personally you cant beat proper earings etc so Id go for it but have tehm done as far in advance to the wedding as possible just incase as it will take you a while to get use to them, letting them heal and finding what type of ear rings u want etc xxx

I have my ears pierced but am allergic to anything I put in my ears!!!
I'm not going to wear any earrings tho I did think of clip ons??

If you haven't had your ears done now and just want it done for the Wedding, I'd seriously think about if you're really going to keep wearing them after the Wedding??
No point in having holes in your ears if you're not that bothered afterwards??

Georgie when you say bad experience what was that if dont mind me asking?

Id recommend going to a decent jewlers to have it done (i had 1st holes done in jewlers and no probs, 2nd at college & one had problem, 3 at hair dressers and NEVER AGAIN!)

Like Rachael says if your not going to wear them otehr than the wedding I may think again x

If your only planning on doing this for the wedding then I'd go for clip ons, save the stress hassle and anxiety!! 3 things you dont need before the big day!
I'd definitely recommend getting them done at a decent jewellers, especially the first time round, put your mind at ease with the 'professionals' as it were!

I have had them done before but I was only 8 and got fed up with them as they just wouldn't heal properly..

My bad experience Mrs Bram to be was with my belly button.. The woman froze everywhere but where she was piercing, I ended up flat out on the floor of the shop as I was leaving, it got swollen and horrible so I had to take it out but repierced it (and passed out) every day which was so painful.. But well worth it now as it's fine and I love it :-)

I'll definitely go to a proper piercing place ! xxx

Yeah it was horrible :-( Had to do it for 2 weeks until the swelling finally went down.. I hope she did it right for the bloke going in after me though as he was getting his wotsit pierced !!!!!!!!

Oooo my friend went into town and got the next size stretcher she needed and decided to do it in our Psychology class.. There was blood pouring down her ear, neck, hand... Urgh made me feel queeeeeeeezy !!!

If you're up for getting your ears pierced I would say go ahead, but do it soon. Personally I'm a bit of a coward; I don't mind needles when they're necessary but I'm not inclined to choose to do it. I don't wear a lot of jewellry though so it's not worth it. The only thing with clip-ons or screw-ons is that they can get sore after a while. At the moment I've no intention of wearing earings; I'm planning on having my hair half up half down.

also if you're worried about the pain (tbh, i've had loads of piercings and i honestly found my ears the worst!!! i think it's cos of they use that gun rather than a needle!) if you go to a professional piercer they can either do it with a needle or numb the area first xx

Nicole - I'm definitely going to a piercer that uses a needle instead of a gun ! I think I know of 1 or 2 places.. Loads of my friends have millions of piercings so I'll ask one of them :-)

I've had my ears pierced since being a child and had both my eldest two daughters done when they were about 3(my youngest hasn't had hers done yet as she's under 3 and I think sometimes they can be too young, I disagree with seeing 5month old babies that have them done) .... I think earrings look great but u can get some really good clip on ones if u choose against the idea xx

Have you got a friend who wants a piercing done? Maybe if you go to get them done together you wont wimp out of it? It took my dad holding me down on a chair to finally get mine done (I had made the journey three times before but would never go in to actually get it done! lol) and I was sixteen then!!! I do love having my ears pierced now though, its amazing how something as simple as earrings can make an outfit complete! xxx

I think it's totally personal. You can wear clip-ons (I will be as I can't get my ears pierced), but, they can be uncomfortable after a while, and though they have improved, the range of styles is still not there, and you can sometimes see the clips at the back.

If you do get them pierced, go to a reputable piercing salon that uses a needle; do NOT go anywhere that uses a gun. Follow the after-care instructions to the letter: this will typically mean cleaning them 2-3 times a day for several months until they're healed, not changing the earrings until they're healed, avoiding swimming, etc. Finally, if you have had them pierced before, make sure you don't have any scar tissue (feels like a hard lump). If you do, do NOT get them pierced through the scar-tissue. I did this, and my ears are now a total mess and filled with large lumps of scar tissue in the lobes.

    HTH!

Georgi, if you want to know anything about ear piercing, i used to pierce ears for a job in major accessory store. The thing I would say is it's best to get them done sooner rather than later if you are going to have them done, they take a while to heal (6-8 weeks for first ones, where you need to clean them 3 times a day, then after that you'd need to keep some more earrings in for a further 5 months without leaving any out, as they can still heal over during that time) plus there can be additional factors which cause infections, which sounds like what you had the first time, sometimes it can be improper after care procedure, if your hair gets tangled in them, can cause infection and also if you're allergic to a particular metal, that will cause the ears to flare up. If you go in to the accessories of cl@ire store, they have some fab sparkly clip on earrings, or alternatively, you could try having them pierced with titanium, which carries much lower risk of allergies xxx

Aww right, yeah, would definitely suggest the titanium ones then hun, should get on much better with those! :-) Good idea about getting them done after hols, best with the cleaning process to do it in the comfort of your home where there's nothing to distract you from it. If it helps, the accessories of cl@ire's website has a chart you can download that you can print and tick off when you've done each clean so you can keep track of what ones you've done, just a handy little thing :-) xxx

I've only got my ears pierced, and to be honest I didn't think they hurt that much...

I did wear clip ons now and again before, but they found them sooo uncomfortable and would end up with bright red ear lobes after ten minutes!

I do think a lovely pair of earrings can really pull together an outfit, personally. Xx
