    Hello lovely ladies,

I have been going around a few local florists over this weekend getting quotes for my bridal flowers. I don't want anything too overly fussy but the prices are absolutely extortionate, it seems as soon as you mention the word 'wedding' they can triple or quadruple the costs.
So as I only want something simplistic and in addition to that I am only needing one bridal bouquet, a minature version for a bridesmaid, and three button holes do I attempt to make up my own?

My thinking behind it is that any normal bouquet/bunch of flowers you can buy from a florist nowadays are normally dressed nicely anyway and they are usually fastened by the stem by an elastic band once arranged. Do you think if I get some florist tape to bind the stems more tightly together and maybe and some ribbons and sparkles I could get away with it, I could really use your honest opinion, just let me add that I am quite artistic so I personally don't think I could mash it up too much.

Any other advice, tips and ideas will be greatly recieved.
    Thanks in advance
    Claire xx

I'd do a test run first and see if you are pleased with the outcome. If you search on you tube there are videos showing you how to arrange bouquets. xx

Definitely try it yourself, have a couple of practise runs to see if you can do it, and make sure you take lots of pics throughout. If it doesn't work, you know to get a florist to do it.

I went to a wedding fayre today and the florists there had beautiful flowers but they were so expensive - £40 for a small bouquet just of Gypsopila!

Hi, I am planing on doing my own flowers too, my mum who is sadly no longer around was a florist and she alway told me it was really easy to do hand tied bouquets, I only need my bouquet and 3 small posies and a few button holes, I have searched YouTube for tutorials and have found a local flower wholesaler who is happy to do a one off order for me, they even have a florist onsite that gives advice, try a google search for local wholesalers and have a look on YouTube
I will also be doing a few test runs too just to be sure I get it right!!

Another option is dont tell them the flowers are for a wedding, theyre usually much cheaper.
but i think what you are describing sounds lovely, and I dont see any reason why you shouldnt go for it

I agree with Kaya - do a test run.
But if you say you are quite artistic you could steer clear of flowers all together and use other material for your bouquets and button holes?

Thanks for your replies ladies, I will definately be doing a test run like you advise. I have been trailing through florist websites tonight and if you are buying just everyday floral arrangements they are from anything between £19 - £70 and look very pretty. Littlemissbossy - I am liking your idea of using something alternative, especially for the button holes.
