    Hi All

I bought a wishing well from Argos on advice from another friend who is getting married soon and had to pay £30 to hire hers and mine was £26 to buy, only thing is i have looked at it and i dont think its that big!! Im just wondering how this all works and if i should get like a post box type thing for cards as well as having a wishing well as its on the small side? Do people just put money in the well and cards elsewhere or is it supposed to fit all in? x

To be honest hun, I have never heard of a wishing well so I am not sure but I should imagine it supposed to fit cards in, have you got a picture of it? X

I have just got my tape measure out lol and the bit you put cards in does seem quite small but i suppose it depends on how many guests you have coming. I have never heard of having a wishing well but I wish i had cos i think that would look lovely. If you are worried you could always get a small post box to put at the side of it just in case, I got a tall post box offthe bay of E but they also sell the smaller ones, it was only about £8 it comes flat packed so you put it together yourself and its a good quality sturdy box in ivory and then i have just made a sign to go on it that matches the rest of my stationary and i'll be putting some ribbon on it.
Like I say though hun I would double check that it is actually meant for cards as I am not 100% sure I just didnt want to read and run xxx

Thanks hun! The day is for 50 guests but then theres around 140 for the evening, another idea im toying with is putting it ontop of a box or something else wooden to make it deeper?

I know some people on here are also having wishing wells, i think they just havent read this thread lol x

I have been enquiring today for you hun about the wishing well and what it is "used" for and I have also googled it lol as like I said i had never heard of it and it seems it is used for your guests to put money in and make a wish for you and your new husband, so I would say get another box for people to put their cards in.

There are quite a few poems online about wishing wells so your guests will know, that your well if for money and wishes and your post box is for cards.

    Hope this helps xx

Thats alright hun, no problem at all. I think putting a a poem in a frame at the side of your well is a fab idea, i'm going to do this next to my post box, ive just come across this one for you

A wishing well we thought would be great
but only if you wish to participate
A gift of money is placed in the well
Then make a wish … but do not tell

Once we’ve replaced the old with the new
We can look back and say it was thanks to you!

And in return for your kindness we’re sure
that one day soon you`ll get what you wished for!

    What do you think??

This wishing well is here today for family and friends.
Take an envelope, make a wish and please drop it in.
As it falls into thewell your wish, for the couple, will come true.
A token for the couple, to help them begin, will be welcomed, too.
Please take the time to make a wish before the day is through

there is this one too but i think i prefer the first one xx

I got a wedding chest from the bay of E for our cards as we do not want gifts and are asking for vouchers. It's come and it's lovely, and they can do it to your colour scheme.

I bought a postbox for mine from a lovely lady who I gave all the details to such as flowers, colours themes etc and she made it for just £20 and had it delivered. I'll find the site if you need for your cards xx

Jakes mummy, just read your post I must've missed it a couple of days ago sorry,! First poem is the one I picked out though it's a bit longer but I'm glad you liked the same poem lol

Thanks for all the comments, my concern was more around if I was to add a separate box for cards and just leave the wishing well for money which I think I will do now and I'll put them next to each other! Xx
