Hey ladies Just wondering what times you've all booked your dj's for, as I don't really know what the norm is? Feeling soo overwhelmed with everything atm!
Edit - can you also let me know how much you're paying please... I don't want to be paying anymore than I need to, as we're having to slash things atm, cos we're short on budget :-(

Oooh that's a good price Sian - what company is that?
Now Mrs Cobb!!!!!! :-D
CommentAuthorStave
My venue said that they would prefer thier own DJ as he has it all set up and it is £100 from 6-12, I did look at others and they were about 300-400 :-0
CommentAuthorKaya
Ahhhhhh that's really good jaesin! Why's everything soo damn expensive :-(
Now Mrs Cobb!!!!!! :-D
CommentAuthorLittle Kettle
We're paying £215 which is one of the cheapest we've found in London - they're a UKBride Supplier and we got a £90 discount for it! Very happy about it all. They seem really professional and we can do everything online, including picking songs we really want played and songs we definitely don't want played!
Vegas baby!

mine is 7.30 - 12.30pm and im paying £265.00. I didnt go with the hotel recommendation as i believe he is/was quite stuffy. so i sourced companies/dj's locally and after having a chat with the director of governing bodies for DJs decided on a company that certainly know their stuff - I HOPE!

I did start stressing thinking that what if I dont like the music he has. But then just thought whatthe heck for that price we will have him. So going to give him a list of songs and cant really go wrong there. Also if the venue has him he must "fit"! LOL
That sounds fab Heather!
CommentAuthormartay (marie)
hey jaesin dont bank on it. as i said earlier the 'in-house' dj at my venue was aged 50+, with a paunch and bow tie. Fit he wasnt - just imagine the old castella/hamlet cigar advert (the man with the comb over).
you getting the picture now. lol

Noooooooooooo (shock horror) lets just hope that I am too "merry" to care by that time ;-) I am assuming that the inhouse is a modern dude as they actually turn into a nightclub/late bar after food service!
Sweet - you should have said did you come in fancy dress?????? PMSL

CommentAuthorStave
That says it all I can really imagine it now. I would have had to go along with it for the crack hahaha
CommentAuthorLisa Ramos
I'm definitely having a playlist, as I get annoyed when they play what they want.
I love my lickle Ava
CommentAuthorStave
Are you going to order your play list Lisa? The one thing that would worry me about that is that what if people were not dancing, or in the mood for the play list?
CommentAuthormcewan07
the one i am going with, sets up an online page for us that we can go to and our guests and request songs
CommentAuthorRhiannonollie
we're not having a dj.
Were having a band that will do 3 x 45 min sets from 7pm onwards - and in between sets I will play my I pod with music on it.
So the band should take us to: 10:15 and then its Ipod music again!
OH NO, have I made a mistake doing it this way? im worried now.
is soooo happy and lucky
CommentAuthorLisa Ramos
mcewan07 - that's a fantastic idea, I don't think mine will do that but I could always put something on my wedding website when I do one.

Any party that I have I always do a playlist that I expect the dj to stick to, but everyone knows that they can request what ever song they want but they need to go and ask for it. I have alot of family who like a good jive and they always request this kind of music, which doesn't bother me at all. I just hate it when dj's play any old crap and I know initially when I bring it up they must think WTF, lol.

a tip to get people dancing girls..... if hes a good dj let him gauge the mood and play music to suit. i dont mean if its dying on its feet, i mean if the dj thinks the 'oldies' outweigh the youngsters let him play stuff that gets their hips cracking lol.
and also i am going to put some paper and pens on each table so people can ask for requests within reason, as all football songs are banned though.

Rhiannonollie - I don't think your making a mistake doing it by ipod, but you might want to ask people if there is any songs they want you to include. I've been to a 21st bday party and they had an ipod attached to their laptop and they had a wicked selection of songs.
I love my lickle Ava
CommentAuthorJane
Ive given our DJ a playlist of about 30 songs so that should keep him busy all evening! Had to put some on CDS for him though as he didnt have them. Not met him in person but he doesnt sound stuffy on the phone... we shall have to wait and see! Havent given him a lot of free rein with the songs anyway and I've told him definitely no Agadoo, Birdy Song or YMCA! And if he does any songs that involve getting the guests to do the Conga I will personally lynch him.
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X

I paid £400 but that includes a live swing singer and disco in between sets as well as him traveling from Manchester to the midlands and a star curtain.

We're paying £200 for a dj from 7.30pm til 11.30pm. We did get a quote for cheaper (£150) but decided that this dj seems better (and has more experience).
CommentAuthorkimmy
We decided to have a casino after the wedding breakfast so our DJ £170, will start at 7.30 till about 12am approx :D

I'm quite lucky as my brother in law is a DJ so he's doing it for free as a wedding present (my sister offered his service-lol!) he's doing 5pm til midnight which is when it ends and he's great. Really gets a party going and very personable. Also has a great selection of music to (hopefully) please everyone...at least at some points of the night!xx
