You could say that you hadn't budgeted for it as he had told you that he wouldn't charge. You could then be cheeky and say but isn't that our wedding present? I guess £50 is still a better deal that if you had to pay someone else to do it but I would be a little annoyed that he said it was free then changed his mind. What is the £50 for? Is it for extra equipment he has to hire and fuel charges? If that is the case then I would say that would be fair.

I can understand why you are annoyed. I would do what everyone else has suggested and say that you thought that this was his wedding gift to you

Hi Hun, it's tough times at the moment, he probably isn't earning as much as he used to now hence he changed his mind. I know it's annoying but it still won't cost you as much as if you hire another so maybe just mention that you didn't budget for it cos he said last year it's for free BUT that you don't mind as it's only for £ 50.00 then see if he offers any explanation so you know why the change of heart. Of course only do that if you really have £ 50.00 to spare and don't think you should make a bigger deal out of it which may affect the friendship. xx

Maybe just mention something but in a jokey way....I've had a lot of friends offer to do things, pay for things for us and i'm not holding them to it. If they want to do something then that is fine, but if they don't i do understand that people say things without truely thinking it all through. As others have said he may have just forgotten that he said he would do it for nothing, but also his circumstances may have changed and he needs the money.......it is a tricky one x
