Hello, I'm Shannon, I'm new to UKBride and love it already!!! I don't know about all you other lovely brides out there but I'm working with a budget for my wedding and I'm making all my invites and place settings myself. Rather than getting them printed with an outside company that charge loads of money. I went on ebay and ordered blank invites and blank place cards so I can design and make them all myself :) my sister in law did this for her wedding and they looked great, in fact they looked better than the ones you send off for!!
I'm also going for a vintage type theme so if you have any ideas for me it would be a great help. I've got a few ideas myself, some being..... having large glass jars full of flowers for table center pieces with white lace wrapped around the rim of the jar to decorate, I'm also going to have lace wrapped around the napkins too.
So back to D.I.Y, i would strongly recommend it if you are on a budget like me and have a creative mind :)

I'm thinking of doing our invites and other things, not quite sure what yet but I have been collecting nice bottles & jars, corks etc, I have some ideas in my head but we need to get a date and venue booked first before I can decide what decorations etc are required. x

I also plan on doing a lot of DIY things too I think when you go see someone and tell them its for a wedding they just hike the price up because they know people are willing to pay stupid amounts of money for something really simple. I'm making my own invites place cards save the dates and even baking cookies for my favours. DIY shows you care more too and it'll be fin to make it all xxx

Hello! I'm also going to be making as much as I can, as my budget is pretty much nil... Starting with invitation sleeves when I find the right shade of card, and a few rubber stamps for decorating stuff... :))

I attempting all of our stationary. I have a vintage lace theme.... And s looking at old style luggage tags with a stamp for our save the dates..... Our invites a work in progress, a gatefold or pocket fold invite, printed, with our coloured ribbon and lace... I have yet to play with my sample orders.... Menu is going to be on a big guilder frame that I'm going to buy second hand, distressed and used as a chalkboard. Place settings are going to be held in old wooden corks, again handmade to our colour theme, maybe with some lace on. And I'm collecting all of my families empty glass jars to be used as small centrepeices on the tables surrounding my flowers, and in the alcoves in the barn.... Lots of ideas picked up from Pintrest that I'm addicted too.

Have you got any suggestions as to where I can buy cheap, but lovely ivory lace? I'm struggling to find nice stuff online that doesn't cost a fortune per metre.

I too am making my own brooch bouquet and have found it really easy to pick the brooches up, quite a lot of family and friends have given brooches to me. Bet I haven't spent more than £30 and it's going to loo gorgeous (even if I say so myself)
